Cheery's country living adventure

Missymoo, I hope you don't mind me butting in, but I'd say now is definitely a good time - normally the summer would be a bit dead without the football, but as it's all been delayed there's plenty to bet on and the new season will start without much of a gap. Not sure how much MB Cheery does these days - I think she's more into the Casino side (which I haven't explored yet) (I'm taking a break from MBing as we've put our house on the market and I don't have the headspace but otherwise would definitely be doing it at the moment - I made ~£150 in July). Definitely recommend Team Profit for hand-holding throughout - Cheery put me onto them - I thought it was too complicated for me!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Don't be sorry - I'm always happy to talk about MB! (or anything else
)
Now is as good a time as any - no point waiting til a big sporting event and then realising you don't know enough to take advantage of everything! DEFINITELY start with Team Profit and GO SLOWLY - it works, but people do daft things when they're not paying attention so follow the instructions.
All the sign up offers were definitely the most lucrative part of it for me, but it did carry on after that - I made about £5000 last year overall. As you say, I'm not doing much at the minute - mostly because we claimed Mr Cheery's pension earlier this year so felt a bit more comfortable financially, and I wanted a bit of time back (I was probably spend an hour or so a night on it)
Vix is right, I tend to do more of the casino stuff now - mainly because it's not as time bound - you don't have to keep track of what you've bet on and where your free bets are due in the same way. But I wouldn't recommend starting with casino - it's a whole different thing and NOT guaranteed profit (unlike proper MB, which is guaranteed, if you follow the instructions and don't accidentally do something stupid).
But yes, definitely recommend having a go - and Team Profit is definitely the place to start. I moved on to paid Oddsmonkey subscription pretty early on but you definitely don't need that at the start - get a few weeks under your belt first before considering that I'd say. See how you get on. Good luck!8 -
Morning MSE chums
Grey here, and I feel like I had a disturbed night with my brain going round and round, although in reality I slept all the way through and brain was just whirring at the start and end of the night. Had a dream that I won £200k doing MB which was great - but then caused a load of arguments as we decided what to do with itProbably just as well that I didn't!
We've had lots of visitors recently and I'm a bit tired... Friends over last weekend, then a full week of work, then more friends arrived on Thursday and stayed til yesterday, and before they left the next lot arrivedAll cheerful, it was SO nice to have those particular friends stay for a few days, things feel so much more relaxed when people aren't thinking about the drive home. Nice to see yesterday's visitors too, although the poor chickens did get a little bit chased by the children....
NO visitors planned for today, so we're going to have a nice leisurely one and I'm going to do some plotting and scheming ready for my fortnight off. Just started with checking the banksAll fine - I was slightly alarmed to see the balance but then realised (a) it's two days before payday and (b) July's money had gone out to the high interest savings accounts, but I'd not transferred it IN from the main saver. Looking far more healthy now I've done that.
Interest rates on the main saver are rubbish, but we're still getting £30 ish a month interest so can't complain about that. High interest ones aren't *that* high (2.5%) but we're drip feeding £1000 a month between two of them so it should add up nicely.
Nowt much else to report. Finally got round to cancelling the subscription to an online card service that I only used twice (very expensive two cards) and I've realised I also need to cancel Audible again - I tried before and they halved my subscription so I stayed for a bit, but it's gone back up now so...
Right, Mr Cheery and I are going to celebrate the start of my holidays with a nice little trip to the cafe, which opens in 26 minutes so best find my shoes!

I have nights like that - lying awake for ages and then only realising you must have fallen asleep because you dream about something so bizarre your conscious brain can't possibly have been thinking about it (Friday night being an example - mating tortoises not something which would ever cross my mind when awake 🤣!)
Sounds like a result if you've managed for almost the whole month without noticing that a chunk of money was missing and the account was only a bit scary as a result 😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!9 -
Yes I can't really complain SC!
Mating tortoises indeed
Got an under-the-weather chicken indoors, so we've spent a bit of quiet time sorting out the LPG supplyIf you remember they told us we were £700 in arrears and they were upping our DD to £237 a month
and I was questioning whether they'd applied all our payments because I couldn't see them all listed on the transactions section of the website.
They're all there now, and I've been through and checked and they *have* all been applied, more's the pityThe first £237 payment has gone out now, and we're only £370 behind so should be caught up shortly - and then I'll request it drops back down again.
I've tried to check annual consumption, which isn't listed anywhere, and deliveries take place throughout the year so it's hard to tell exactly.
June 2018, Dec 2018 and Feb 2019 deliveries come to 4400 litres
July 2019, Dec 2020 and Feb 2020 deliveries come to 4100 litres - but then we had an extra delivery of nearly 1000 litres in April this year, which bumps up the total to 5100 (but obviously has lasted well beyond July - we've still got 60% of a tank left).
So while I was suspecting that having a massive hole in the kitchen ceiling probably wasn't helping our consumption... I'm now wondering whether it actually hasn't made that much difference...
Anyway, we're paying 36p per litre which is pretty standard it seems at the minute. I've filled in a couple of comparison sites (there aren't many companies to compare) and remembered current supplier sent us a 'loyalty offer' which annoyingly isn't available on the internet, and their phone lines are closed. I'll ring tomorrow - and then hopefully can compare with the new quotes too.
Yawn - at least this is all a pretty straightforward comparison and only has to be done once every two years!
I'm in sorting out mode now though - wonder what else needs doing?! (the type of sorting out that involves sitting on my backside with a pen and piece of paper, not cleaning or anything drastic)

That’s my kind of sorting too cheery 🤣4

Not that we’re getting ahead of ourselves at all but having seen the EPC for the house we’re looking at (very poor, wonder if oil boiler is old) we’ve been researching air source heat pumps. While expensive to install, you get quite a bit of money back from the government for installing it via the renewable heat incentive. Further research needed but thought I’d mention it...Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Ooh, do let me know how you get on with your investigations. I suspect anything we'd want to do would have to wait til the kitchen was sorted before we could have an EPC done. Trying not to get too far ahead of myself - there are only so many projects I can have on the go at one time before my head explodes 😯
I've ended up doing more sorting than I thought I would! Started doing the washing up, ended up cleaning out a kitchen cupboard and reunite a load of plastic tubs, and then ended up cutting up ALL the remaining veg box veg into little tubs in the hope it will make me more likely to cook if everything is already chopped and ready to sling in a pan... we'll see! Got carrots roasting in the oven and am boiling ALL the potatoes - thinking of something gravy themed for tea, and maybe a Spanish omelette for lunch tomorrow...8 -
Hey cheery! Thanks so much for your lovely post on my thread. Sounds like you’ve had a super busy week but so nice you can chill a little today. My favourite sorting out is the pen and paper kind. I seem to do that Far more than any other sorting! Whenever you mention the cafe it makes me crave cake..... maybe I should make a Victoria sponge..... happy to share if there’s tea on offer!8
