I hope your insect bites are better, Cheery.
i was reading that the stripes on zebras protect them from insect bites, so some farmers in insect-bitey countries are painting their cattle with stripes and it really helps.
So you could paint your face with black and white stripes to keep the bitey things away!
If you do, pic please! 😂(I just lurve spiders!)

I always imagined it wouldn’t be straight as the scythe isn’t straight but then I’ve always lived in the suburbs so have no concepts of it. But I think you’re doing fab just having a go, so many people wouldn’t.8

Lol you lot! 😂 But here will be no official campsites on my watch. I very much enjoy not having to worry about people demanding ludicrous things like water, mown grass, absence of rusting metal, and toilets 😂
More scything done yesterday, and some raking too, to turn the grass so it dries more easily. A job best done with a pitchfork, but one of ours broke and I can't find the other one anywhere, most vexing. Might order another, we've got friends coming at the weekend who were keen to help (although when people have said that in the past what they actually want is to swing the scythe about... 😂 ).
Nothing much else to report today, not got much planned this week which is nice!9 -
Invest in some pitchforks and all visitors must do a decent amount of work before you serve refreshments. If they are camping onsite a large contribution is required 😂Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Yes, set up the refreshments at the opposite end of what you want scything and they have to work their way there 😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Lol you lot! 😂😂 could turn it into some kind of competition where the first one to the end gets the best cake 😂 (they do have scything competitions, I love watching them, they are judged on both speed and skill - not sure you usually win a cake though...).
Not done any yet today, was too busy faffing around with a blog post before work. Going to work for another hour or so then get out there for a bit.

Well I didn't get any more scything done yesterday - the wind was blowing the grass flat in an odd direction, and both my elbow and hip were too sore, so I gave up.
Today though, we got chatting to one of the farmers who came round to check on his cows - and he brought round a couple of ancient scythes for us - apparently someone was throwing them out last week and he'd thought of us. They're utterly beautiful, proper old English ones with bendy handles. The blades on both are completely rusty and bent, and I have no idea whether we'll be able to get them back to proper sharpness, but we're going to have a good try! He also brought us the head of a hay fork - we've lost ours somewhere in the grass and I was contemplating buying a new one, but this means we'll just have to fit a new handle. What a lovely man!12
