Cheery's country living adventure

I'll look for her, Cheery, we have a general family thing of loving beesI thought today's vile weather was going to skip me, and it hasn't - rain, gusts, bleak grey, the whole bit. I'm having to delay putting the washing machine on, still making sure the last lot is dry.2023: the year I get to buy a car6

Yep, we'd got two patio umbrellas still up which have both suffered various levels of mishap... At least I did a load of washing yesterday and it did get chance to dry before I brought it in (and put it away!! Possibly a first!!)
Looks like the rest of the week should be pretty reasonable, thankfully!
Just remembered to have a play with Prolific while I was eating my lunch - got £4.50 or so pending now.7 -
Hey Cherry, I have FINALLY read your whole diary! I’ve loved every second of it (apart from the sad chickeny bits 😢). I can just imagine all of the things you are doing, such hard work but so rewarding. I’ve decided I’m going to live my life vicariously through you!10

Just off for a bike ride now once I've let the chickens out so feel free to come along from the comfort of your arm chair! 😁 Will post a pic when I get back 😁10 -
Evening chums 😊
Well my bike ride didn't turn out quite as planned... discovered the other day that my tyres was fraying... and today also discovered that the metal wheel rim itself has a kink in it. No idea how that's happened, but it's not a combination I felt comfortable cycling several miles on so I turned back and shoved the bike back in the car, and went for a walk instead. Another thing to fix at the weekend...
Nipped for a cuppa at the cafe this afternoon after a slightly wearying meeting, and ended up with a bargain as they had an offer on, so I got tea and cake for £3.50. Normally I have flapjack (which is cheaper anyway, and not part of the offer). Apparently they're taking part in this 'eat out to help out' thing - mixed feelings about that and it won't be making me eat out more in general, but I'll take the discount when we would have been going anyway, and donate the other half to something useful I think.
The rest of the stuff for the kitchen ceiling arrived today, so I can make a start on that at the weekend. And my scythe sharpening/bashing thing also arrived, so I can have a go of that too. Oh, and the tap for the water butt - this is going to be a busy weekend!!
Not much else to report. I currently look like Aunt Sally (remember her?!) as I have two giant red insect bites, one on each cheek 🙄😂 also have one on my eyelid, and several on my forehead, so I'm very glad I'm not meeting many people in real life right now... 😂😂10 -
Oh no cheery! Your poor face! Sorry your Day didn’t turn out as planned, but lovely that you had tea and cake! I love a cuppa and a nice piece of cake. I hope you manage to fix your bike this weekend. How are the chickens doing?7

Thanks all - I'm not in that much discomfort really, I just look ridiculous! I do indeed have tea tree oil somewhere (although I won't be putting it anywhere near my eyes...
) but I've got a tube of bite cream on my desk so that will suffice for now.
Took my other bike out this morning (the little folding one). It's got a slow puncture in the front wheel, but I know from past experience it'll last at least 10 miles, so I took a pump with me just in case. However after 9.5 miles, nearly back at the car park, I got a puncture in the back wheel! Which would NOT stay inflated, so I ended up walking the last bit. I also know from experience that fixing a puncture on the back wheel of the folding bike is a bit of a pain (because of the way the folding mechanism is attached) so I'll save that for a day when I've got a lot of time and nowhere else to be...
Just rang the local bike shop to see if they'd sort out the wheel rim on my other bike, and do a service of the whole thing (so I don't have to do anything to it...) and they don't have any workshop space til the end of August! Suddenly everyone is a cyclist, it seems. So I'm going to take the wheel in and they'll order me a new one which I can fit myself, and the service will just have to wait. That's the MSE way of course, I was just being lazy...
YAWN. I'm perfectly capable of fixing all these bike problems myself, but was hoping to be rather idle and get out of it... Hey ho!
In other news, I've just discovered a little local new organic veg box delivery scheme! I've not had a veg box for many, many years - I love having them, but Mr Cheery prefers choosing his own at the supermarket. However I'm just despairing at the amount of plastic we're getting through, and we never usually buy organic at the shop, so I've ordered one this week and we'll see how it goes - we might end up having a couple a month or something as a compromise...
Right. A day of plotting and scheming awaits...9
