I'm super-intrigued by the pease pudding. Sounds like it might be worth a punt for 80p 😀 And Cheery, I'm sure it's not more MSE to make your own. Remember you've got to factor in your own time making it; if you were spending that time doing something else (like matched betting when there is something to bet on) then you'd definitely make more than it costs. Even if it's only a 30-minute job, I bet you value your time at more than £1.60 an hour minus the material cost of the ingredients!
Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!8 -

Plus that 80p includes the cost of the can, which can be recycled.
I like pease pudding too.
Not to be confused with mushy peas.(I just lurve spiders!)

Definitely not tp be confused with mushy peas, bleurgh!!
Tis a bit like dhal in a sense yes - just split peas and salt (the tinned version has turmeric). When I've made it in the past I've just bunged split peas, water and a stock cube in the slow cooker and had it dhal consistency. The tinned stuff is pretty solid - you can slice it. I don't - I use it as a thick spread on toast (or today on wraps with boiled eggs), or yesterday i plonked the leftovers in a pan with some other leftovers and stirred it altogether. Not sure exactly what you're 'supposed' to do with it, but who cares??
Glorious evening here, I went for a run (which was at least half walk). Did five miles and only saw one car, and on old bloke tending his veg patch. Utterly lovely, properly mentally restorative (my legs won't thank me mind you!) ♥️10 -
I must admit, I always think of pease pudding as being quite thick, the consistency of mashed potato when warm, whereas I think of dhal as runnier. I suppose it depends how you like it. Also, pease pudding is peas, and dhal is lentils of one type or another, I think, or at any rate a different type of thing from our yellow split peas, although as they are all legumes it’s a moot point! 😁😁
I suppose you can just eat it as a dollop of veg on the plate with whatever the meal is, like mashed potato, but, just wondering, could you use it as a topping like mashed potato? Over a cottage pie, sort of thing? I suppose you could also use it as a thickening agent in soup, too.
Maybe you could form it into little patties and sautée them?
It’s very nutritious as well!
I want some now!

I always say I don't like mush peas Jessy, but do you know, I'm not even sure I've ever tried them as an adult!! Must do something about that...
Don't see why you couldn't use pease pudding as a topping for a cottage pie or something - the stuff I had would need loosening a little with a bit of milk or yogurt I'd say before it would spread out. I imagine it would be rather more filling than potato though!6 -
