Cheery's country living adventure

Thanks PF
Last day of the month! Not payday for me, but I've just remembered that we should get the first monthly instalment of Mr Cheery's pension today so that will be nice! And work have declared that they're not deducting pay from our strike action just yet, until things are back to normal - which is good of them I think - a lot of people will need that stability if their partner's are losing other income.
So a bit of YNAB/banks faffing is in order tonight. I did transfer the pension lump sum to the savings account, but haven't paid any of it off the mortgage - feels like a good idea to keep it accessible for the time being while things are so uncertain. We'll see. Mr Cheery's paperwork has arrived for his regular saver - I'd already transferred this month's allowance into it and set up the direct debit, but we can sort out online access and everything now we've got the paperwork so that's good.
It'll be interesting to see how much we've saved through not driving anywhere (and no cafe trips) And I tried to make a donation to the local food bank the other day but their system didn't work on my phone - need to try again tonight. They must be struggling, but our local one doesn't have much of a social media presence.
In the meantime, work. Mr Cheery just brought me a cup of tea and FOUR chocolate buttons as a treat. I know he's rationing them so I don't eat them all in one go (very wise) but four? They're going to last til Christmas at this rate!

That's really good news about your pay Cheery - very sensible of your employer. I think everyone will be reviewing their spending after a month of no/very few discretionary spends. Makes me wonder if a few more will join our little MFW world when they realise how much they waste (not suggesting that you waste - just that we all spend more than we think!).
4 chocolate buttons? That's taking rationing to the extreme!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

4 buttons? That’d barely tickle the tongue!
However, if you cut them in half, you’ll have 8!(I just lurve spiders!)

I'm sure Mr Cheery would agree with your assessments of his sensibleness
I might get another four later if I'm lucky
I tend to eat them two together so four didn't last very long at all!!

You'll have to challenge yourself to make them last as long as you can...

What have we taught our menfolk Cheery? - Yours is rationing chocolate - mine is slowly decluttering the weird and wonderful tipples that have been gifted to us over the years
