Sometimes the longer you leave it to mind just tells you it’s going to be awful when in fact it’s really not too bad!5

Quick with the bra, before they shut up shop - permanently or temporarily!
You sound very organised now, but rather you than me, trying to work out what to get a 14 year old boy!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Hmm, still not sorted the bra out - idiot. It's on my desk though and I'll do it in a break today.
Having issues with BOTH cars at the minute. I mean, I know there isn't really anywhere to go... but we're a long way from shops/hospitals etc here. New car had a flat tyre so we got Tyres on the Drive to come out. They fixed the broken one, and then sheared off the locking wheel nut when trying to do the opposite one. Of course that now means we can't drive the car at all, as we have no way of changing any of the tyres if we get a flat. Tried to order a replacement, but it seems I can't do that, and instead have to (apparently) take it to an official dealer to identify which locking nut it is.
For goodness sake. Clearly I won't be doing that - I'll be taking it to the garage to get ALL the locking nuts removed by force and replaced with normal ones.
In the meantime, the other car has started randomly losing power again. That's going to the garage tomorrow, and fingers crossed they can fix it the same day else I'll be sleeping on the forecourt.
Feels like such a stupid thing to be fussing about now, but it's scrambling my head trying to work out the logistics of it. In fact I might see if I can swap and do the new car first - taking the wheel nuts off and replacing the tyre is an easy fix and they'll definitely be able to do that in a day, and then at least we've got one car. The other one can probably wait then til all this is over.
Anyway. Other than that minor inconvenience things are ok here, and I am not for one minute taking for granted my secure job that I can do from home, our house that is big enough for us to be in separate rooms for necessary stuff, and the fact that we have outside space, no dreadful neighbours, no abusive relationship, no elderly relatives in need of care, etc etc. There are going to be some folks in dreadful situations right now.
So with that in mind, I'm going to start following Fortune's daily gratitude list, and today I am grateful for- a video chat over breakfast with a friend
- sunshine!
- having breakfast in the garden for the first time this year
- secure work and no need to worry about finances
- the fact that I just discovered RT has saved some of the smileys (who knew that was even possible) so I can still do this
Feel free to copy and paste yourselves!

Oooh,
you have no idea how happy this has made me!
Does she have  ? Where do I find them?!
Cheery, your worries are perfectly valid - you need a car to get anywhere and that is necessary at the moment - everything is very uncertain and you need to know you can get out and about should the need arise, even if you're staying put for the foreseeable. Yes, there's worse going on out there, but that doesn't make your troubles any less important to *you*. And with our very shrunk world at the moment, these things loom larger anyway!
Lovely gratitudesIf it's warm enough for you to eat in the garden, I'll have to investigate!

I did have a blanket round me (although in reality I could have got away with just a proper jumper but I've actually put a skirt and cardi on for working at home today, as I realised I'd been in the same jeans/jumper for over a week!) Definitely need that eek smiley now
You'll have to wait for RT to pop up and ask about the smileys I'm afraid - I just grabbed the one posted on the chickens thread!
Just spoke to the garage - cars swapped so I'm taking the new one in tomorrow. Sounds daft, but if I take the old one and they can't get the part straight away, I'm stranded, and Mr Cheery can't come and get me as we'd have no way of changing a tyre on the new one. The new one they'll definitely be able to sort in a day as it doesn't require parts - and the old one still runs enough for an emergency dash even if I do end up stranded.
Whose stupid idea was it to move to the middle of nowhere?! (Actually at the minute I am VERY grateful to have moved to the middle of nowhere... VERY grateful indeed. Can't imagine how we'd be feeling if still in our old house with our noisy neighbours and barely any garden. We are SO fortunate right now)9 -
Morning @Cheery_Daff
I think sorting out of the tyres first makes sense as it should be quick & easy.
Lovely warm and sunny here, we have washing drying on the line. I can hear the birds instead of the normal trafficFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Sounds lovely BB! I've got some washing in the machine at the minute that I'll be putting on the line at lunchtime. In fact one exciting discovery this week is a quicker wash cycle...
The normal one we used took over two hours!! But that's the one Mr Cheery always used from well before I met him, said the others didn't work properly, and I just went along with it. Finally dug out an online instruction manual - turns out the washer is so ancient that with most programmes you have to 'turn it on a click' like you did when we were kids
So now I've got a cycle that lasts about 45 mins, then turn it on a click for the spin that takes another 10 mins. Much better!!
(note to self - don't wait 14 years before looking for an instruction manual next time...)8 -
Oh how seeing those rotfl smilies has made me smile! Please post on cheery’s thread how to do them RT 😃6

Hi Ladies - if I'm the RT you are referring to - I don't remember saving any smilies!!!
- but I did find out that if you are on a pc and press the 'window' key + '.' key then a list of embedded emojis pop up! - if it's not me then who is the RT that was smart enough to save the emojis???

RT, I'm sure you're the RTCheery, things are going well at your placeI've just been referring to my "first world problems" - but yes, I live in the first world, and I'm not going to let myself submerge in negativity. Solving problems, of whatever sort, is a lot of what we're about on here.
What I *really* want to know is how much of your own breakfast you managed to eat, if the chickens were also out?
