Ooh, thanks greenbee!
Minor vexation here today (well, several vexations, it's my first day back at work after a week of strikes, and I only have two days to sort everything out before we're pulled out again for a fortnight, sigh).
Anyway, it seems they've changed the promotions process - new deadline is in a few weeks (which I'll nowhere near be ready for) then they're not having another round in the autumn (which I was aiming for), so I'll have to wait til next spring. Pah. Still, at least it takes the pressure off a little and means I've got plenty of time to build up to it as I was getting a little worried various things wouldn't be in place.
Still, while I was mildly annoyed for a little while, all that has been brushed away because THE PENSION LUMP SUM HAS ARRIVED! Goodness me. Most exciting. We've shared a piece of flapjack in the cafe as a celebration - don't want to get too extravagant... (!)11 -
Ooh congratulations Cheery! Love your extravagance!!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thank you lovely people, we are very excited!
Also you've reminded me I DO actually have a real life cheque to put in the bank! It's the refund on the car tax from the car we scrapped before Christmas. Grand total of £2.50...Not quite got round to bothering with a trip to the bank yet

(You can bet I would have dropped everything to go to the bank today though if they'd sent the lump sum by cheque!!)7

@Cheery_Daff can you pay the HUGE cheque in via your bank App? I can with both Halx and H__C. You just take a photo of it. Mind you it doesn't work if you don't notice that your mother hadn't dated it...
We had v exciting news about OHs early retirement options, wouldn't have even checked if you hadn't said. Massive thanks from OH.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
