Afternoon everybody :hello:
Happy birthday joannasmum :bdaycake:
Have heard from Penny-Pincher!! - she is still feeling rotten but she's put on 1kg which is good as her weight was plummeting. :T
Went to church this morning and then onto the gym for a lovely long swim. I had one of the 2 pools all to myself for over an hour! (cos it's a city centre gym, it's very quiet on Sundays). Decided to continue the healthiness by eating a Gillian McKeith recipe - peppers stuffed with goat's cheese and pine nuts on a bed of rocket (yum!) That's about as far as being healthy goes today though, as I'm meeting my brother and going to the pub
Sorry about your fall mrs_mix, but wow - well done on winning £450! What are you going to do with it? Even if you decide to use it for something boring, sensible and necessary, make sure you keep a bit back to treat yourself
Hugs to everybody, glad to hear things could be looking more positive for your MIL mioliere.
Love Rzl xx :wave:Operation Get in Shape

Granny, all my presents and cards are written ready to deliver or post, several of them have to go to the US or France so need to be on the ball. I have one or two special cards to make for the children, but they will be done and their cheques written in the next couple of weeks.
I have started to buy stuff for the lunch here at the complex. I have a 2lb Christmas pudding, a box of crackers and a 2lb tub of mincemeat which I am feeding with a little brandy!!!!!!!!! I also have our beef joint for Christmas day in the freezer................
I have been sweating over my SIL's chrissy present, found a house/log cabin quilt today I forgot I had, so I will finish it for him, phew, I thought I was going to have to start from scratch. The chidlren no longer get presents as such, but over the years I have made them all quilts, the GC get cash so they an buy what they want with it.
Just cooking the supper, we had some lamb left so I am re-heating it along with roast spuds, carrots, cabbage, sweetcorn and cauliflower, along with red wine gravy, followed by the apple and blackberry crumble I made yesterday............white wine in the fridge...........Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
I've just received the official wedding invits from my DD, she's settled on 17th November, instead of 10th as her Dad is on holiday in the Caribbean & she wants him to give her away. I will have to bite my tongue for the duration of the wedding, though I'd love to know how he can claim benefit when he can afford that sort of holiday. Well I know how he does it, lol, it's called fraud, or since he has a good accountant I suppose it's called creative accounting!
Oh well, rant over.
Hugs Hester

Hi All :hello:
Great news on the sofa front - put the covers back in on a warmer wash with detergent and they've come out fine :j :j :j no more mysterious pink and blue splodges!:T
The jury is still out on my hair dilemma (well, I seem to be the only member of it!) - texted pictures to my sis (she said it was lovely) - mum said it looks "fab" and it takes her back to when I was 3 years old! - hubby seems pleased enough - DD 9 says I look "freaky" in a nice sort of way- DS 4 says he wants blonde mummy back
- So, unless everyone is just being super kind they all think it looks good. Have washed it 5 times this morning with head & shoulders and there is a slight lightening effect so I will keep washing like mad - due back in work in a couple of days and I'm dreading that - it just such a drastic change  .
Its been lovely to catch up on what you have all been chatting about, sorry I dont know all of your names (yet) but I wanted to say a big THANK YOU for all your tips/advice - much appreciated.
Have a good evening.
Love

Taplady - I watched that too, they were amazing. Sad about Willie going home but not unexpected.
Well think I am about to be made redundant from the kitchen. OH cooked a lovely roast which was amazing for the first time - obviously I did help a little but not much. The pork was lovely, think I should go to the farm shop each week for the roast meat. Then we have just had bacon sarnies for tea - made by oh.
In my office doing a little paperwork as am out at Adventure Island tomorrow - must find the tesco vouchers first.0 -
Hello everyone. I am feeling a lot better now and I have been very busy making things for the freezer. I read that Pen Pin is in hospital. Get well soon Pen Pin. I keep saying it but I will try to keep up more.
We all went to church this morning and both girls enjoyed Sunday School and the youngest didnt make a fuss when we left her this time. They brought us lovely pictures they drew afterwards. The roast beef was ready by the time we got home and we had lunch and took them to the park. There is some beef left over but I dont know what to do with it so it will probably go in sandwiches. Tonight my mother in law looked after them to let us go to church for Evensong. We dont get the chance to go often and it was a lovely service with a cup of tea afterwards. I got to talk to people I havent seen for a while.Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0 -
Evening all,
Happy birthday JoannasMum and Mr Anniestar :bdaycake: :bdaycake: hope that you have both had a good day.
Hugs to PenPin, glad to hear that weight has started to move in right direction!
Congratulations Mrs Mix....sorry about the fall...spend every penny on yourself!
Hope that everybody who is having a rough time has a boost this week
Slept quite late, read the newspaper and did some knitting this afternoon.
We had some sole fillets which were on offer in Lidl for dinner, with mashed carrot, kohl rabi, baby onions and fennel root, steamed mangetout, purple sprouting broccoli, bulb fennel and mustard greens...all home grown. Pudding on offer was remains of birthday cake.
Sounds very windy here to-night we are to have rain to-morrow, glad that I have got rid of all the washing so won't have to have airers round the house to-morrow.
Love to everybody, hope that everyone sleeps well
