  • Morning Everyone, hope you are having a good weekend.

I need to share or I'll cry!

I'm NOT having a successful weekend with colours at all. Firstly I dyed my "dyed blonde" hair (a natural dark brown) last night = gothic black result (sigh! panic!! sigh again!!! :o ).

In my attempt at cleaning my sofas (two and a three seater) I stripped all the covers off yesterday, washed and dried them all and have just gone to put them all back together and for some unexplained reason there are blue/pink colour splodges in various obvious places  - WHY?!!! I washed them without anything else. I've washed them several times before without incident ... it's not my weekend for colours! Does anyone have any tips I could try? One of my friends introduced me to soda crystals - would they help to remove the colour splodges? The normal colour of my suite is a biscuity beige.

Thank you all ... now, where are the kleenex  xx

Are you sure your hair is black? My hair is light brown to dark brown depending on what I slap on. I now buy blonde colourant to keep it mid brown - anything darker turns it to dark brown. Even something like 'Light Golden Brown' turns it near black. Anyway, I often wail that my hair's almost black and am told it's nowhere as dark as I think. A week later I've got used to it and see the true colour.

Dunno about the covers - would definitely try washing one again to see if 'stains' come out.
  • u have to be careful with soda crystals they can burn some fabrics so try on an unseen area first it could just be the washing powder undiluted in some places .as for your hair just keep washing and conditioning it hope this helps im trying to cut back on money and have my hair hilighted and cut 4 times a year at £60 a time which i can no longer justify as were SKINT but its risky doin it urself i dont no wot to do soz cant b more helpful tipperdrivers wife xx

    Morning All

    Thank-you for your birthday wishes.

I have a bad head, far to much wine last night. No chance of a lie in DD was rather excited it was my birthday bless her.

DH has bought me a pair of Croc Mamouths which I'm over the moon with.

Plans for today are do as little as possible but unfortunately the ironing isnt going to wait. Not sure if were going to MIL's later but if not I've got a shoulder of lamb to roast.

    Have a good day everyone

sorry to hear about your bad day re your hair the best thing to do is to wash with a really strong shampoo i.e vosene as it will strip some of the colour
after that i fear it may be one of those days the best thing to do would be to grab a bottle of wine and a box of chocs and proceed to wait till its over:D
afraid i havent any advice on the covers but i am sure someone will be along to help you soon
take care and hope things get better

Hi, thanks for replies (and moving me to a post where I can chat - can you tell I'm reasonably new to all of this?)

Hair - Yep, definitely black - not a hint of "natural" brown anywhere - am going to wash several times today. It's funny because if you look at it under the lights, it's lovely a shiny and you kind of think "oh, its not THAT bad" looking at it in the daylight it looks like dull black boot polish - not very attractive at all. Am going to see how it is after few more washes but failing that I guess all my money saving attempts are going to go out of the window when I arrive at hairdressers for a colour correct - not cheap at all! I was trying to SAVE money by reducing the re-growth roots problem of it being mainly blonde (and my having naturally dark brown hair) :o Ah well, when will I ever learn this lesson?!

I'm completely puzzled by the colours on the sofa - I washed the smaller sofa covers first - fine, no problems. Then, thinking about it (and trying to be "good" cleaning out the washing machine) I put soda crystals in on their own to rinse the machine out (especially because the reason for deep cleaning the sofas was because of the cats sleeping on it all of the time and I was worried about lots of cat hair in the washing machine). So, I wonder whether the blue'ish colour comes from the bold washing liquid tab thing but the pink ... I have nooooooooo ideas on that one.

Will try washing again (sigh!) and say a prayer. Should I put them in without any washing tabs?
