Hi, this is the Daily Thread forSunday 21st October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning. I am up and busy, I thought I had better get out of bed due to the after effects of a nice curry.....
Gross eh....
Yesterday we shopped. I bought an antique butter dish in a charity shop for £2. The ancient shop assistant informed me that "you would lose the 2oz of butter in that we got rationed in the war in that dish". Why are charity shop workers all over 100 years old? :rotfl:
I don't need anything in the shops at the moment as off to USA in 7 weeks and plan to buy everything in the country.
Off to the shops soon to walk the dog and get the paper, I can then read about England losing..... Will Hamilton go the same way? I hope not.
Cheers folks

Morning N9eav and all who follow
:bdaycake: happy birthday Joannasmum have a good day
well the apple festival was interesting yesterday lot's going on and loads of apples some I hadn't heard of we tasted quite a few and came home with 4 different varieties but disaster struck the ground in places was very uneven and with the arthritis in my feet I can be a bit unsteady and I hadn't taken my crutches so Over I went I sprained my better ankle and bashed my knee but I'm ok I can still move
but the good news I found a pound in a coat pocket so I bought a lotto ticket for the hot picks never had one before I've just checked and am now £450.00 better off so I'm chuffed
Kyle good to see you back and despite your holiday problems I'm glad you had a good time
going to get my breakfast and some painkillers
see you later
have a good day
:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: to all

I am one of the English sexy Shelias
I'm also a hussy0 -
Morning N9EAV - I can tell you're just about to post!
Didn't get chance to come back on here yesterday so Happy Birthday for yesterday, PENPEN & PLUMDUFF.
Welcome back KYLE - glad you had a good time despite the problems.
Welcome to REFORMED.
Happy Birthday JOANNASMUM!
MRS MIX - Congrats on your lotto win - you must be thrilled to bits. What a great surprise.
HARDUP - how much longer is your lodger going to be with you? Where is she from? I don't think I could stand what she's putting you through. You must have the patience of a saint!
Well, what a shame about the rugby. I thought England played really well - they certainly made it difficult for S Africa, didn't they?
No change with MIL - the doctors are taking her off the ventilator today and, if she goes downhill, they will put her back on it for another three days then repeat the process one more time after that. I don't know how FIL will cope with it. I think he thought that today would be decision day with the doctors but I have told him that they must think it's worth trying the ventilator a couple more times, so it could be more hopeful than they've made out. I think they do prepare you for the worst, don't they? It's going to be a nerve-wracking day waiting for the phone to ring.
Yesterday, we went out and did some charity and Christmas shopping and had lunch out, but our hearts were not really in it so we didn't stay in town very long. We called in to DS2 and his GF's on the way back and their mad little kitten cheered us up. We witnessed his first trip outside into the garden and he was so funny; he loved it and was skipping for joy all over the lawn then, when we all went back inside, he kept looking through the patio doors - you could tell he was longing to go back outside. For a ten week old kitten, he's got masses of personality.
I enjoyed Strictly last night - the competition is really hot this year and I just love all the sparkly dresses. Once we'd watched the rugby, though, we were exhausted. We'd had a couple of beers which only made us more tired - I think it's all the worrying about MIL, so we were in bed unusually early for a Saturday.
Today, I must ice the cakes I made yesterday, ready for the grandchildren's visit this afternoon. We have roast pork and all the trimmings which I will do at lunchtime and I have a smallish pile of ironing ( maybe I can persuade DH to do that) and some paperwork so not too busy today. The weather forecast is for another good few days - it's lovely getting the washing dry on the line so late in October. It's going to come as a shock when the winter really kicks in.
Anyway, going to have another cuppa. Will call in later. Hope everyone has a great day and (((Hugs))) to all who are ill, unhappy or worried.

Hopefull will get chicken dinner for tea, i put it in slow cooker this morning and if i have time after footy will do all the trimmings if iv not got time it will be chicken and chips!
Kyle great to see you back, we did a package hoilday when we went to Florida and never had a problem, but we did stay in hotel not a villa. Pity about you problems but it sounds like you didnt let it spoil your hoilday, it really is magical isnt it! Did you eat out anywhere? Oh i could just tuck into a all you can eat breakfast right now!!LOL
Have fun everyone, i will try and catch up with you all later inbetween matches.

Hi everyone, just want to say thanks to all who wished me birthday wishes yesterday. I had a great day (even with my head cold). My afternoon out with Mum and sister was lovely, my only buy of the day was a 500g tub of glace cherries for £1.99 , which I thought was a brilliant price and will do for my xmas baking - bought from Julian Graves.
After dinner with both sons and their partners, we watched a dvd called the painted veil - it was really good, the scenery in China was so beautiful and so sad at the end.
Today I am having a lazy morning, will do some ironing and then may go into town - DS1 gave me some m&s vouchers and they're burning a hole in my pocket LOL !
For dinner tonight I will just have leftovers from last night.
Happy birthday Joannasmum - wish I knew how to add a birthday cake.
Have a great day everyone.Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Morning everyone!! Pam - can't believe you won £450! Congatulations! I just checked my ticket - usual story two balls and the bonus... oh well! Another £ bites the dust.
I am up whilst OH still languishes in bed - I'm still on my mission to sort my house out (and then become a regular fly lady) since we moved on 4 months ago we've had a whole bedrooms worth of stuff we have yet to unpack - I am going to try and sort some stuff out for ebay - get the photos etc.. done and then I will post on a 10p listing day. The builders are coming tomorrow so we have to move our living room into the bedroom for a couple of weeks (its quite big so not a problem thank goodness) I am glad something is getting done to the flat - it has tons of potential. Since I conceived within pretty much a week of living here though I have not had the energy to do any reorganising, buying decorating - but I feel a burst of energy coming on this morning and I've written myself a very detailed list (I'm a list queen - only way I get anything done) so I am hoping I will earn an evening at the cinema by working my way through that. I'm getting all the recycling thats been building up down to the dump, which is no mean feat with three flights of stairs and then I am heading to primark to get some other work trousers as I can only fit into one pair at the moment!
Hope everyone has a lovely day

N9eav- have a good day. We have loads of charity shops too- but at least it helps with thw decluttering and not feeling guilty about throwing things away.

Mrs Mix- so sorry you fell but so glad you won !!!!
dlb - ouch - drink loads of water and an alka selzter- not that I have ever had a hangover.
Kyle- havent read your post but I do hope problems didnt stop you enjoying your special time
Well we leave for Spain on the 4.00 ferry. Of course we are excited but as it is our first trip for a long period of time we are a bit nervous. We shall certainly miss family and friends and it will be unusual for Mr Chalky and I to spend 24 hours a day together. However it will be lovely to just be able to be together and have no worries that life brings- or English life anyway.
Will keep os ways alive in Spain -- since meeting you lovely lot it has become a way of life.
So I think it will take ages to get the internet set up-- SO happy birthday to everyone ubtil then. Congratulations to all who have celebrations--- The gift of strength to all those who have sad or frightening times and a BIG ((((((((((((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
