  • I'd make him pay it. You can contact Orange and arrange to pay it off in installments. And throw away the sim card and get him a pay as you go one! I know he's too young to get a "proper" job, but I got a paper round at 15 to pay for my pay as you go phone, he could go round the neighbours and offer to wash cars, do washing up etc. Does he get pocket money?

    Regarding the automatic credit ceilings (where you have a set credit limit to prevent enormous bills).

    These aren't 100% reliable - if you go abroad, then roaming charges take time to get posted to your acount, and you can end up with a large bill despite the pre-arranged credit limit.
