    For people who need counselling

By the way, if anyone reading this is in despair about the thought that their counsellor might be as organised/chaotic as themselves, please don't worry. In all seriousness, now, counsellors are professionals, with a long training and often a lot of experience, but they're also people, and usually people who've had a lot of pain themselves - thats often why they've become counsellors. And a counsellor isn't there to be perfect, s/he is there to provide you with a safe space where you can unburden, heal yourself and go forward into the next part of your life with more freedom and more contentment - not necessarily happiness, to be honest, but the chance to live your life the way you want to live it, not to be buffeted by everyone else's agendas (whether past or present).

Well put Karmacat I often disclose things about myself in sessions (if needed) to help take away the assumption that because I am a counsellor that things are perfect for me and I have it all sorted, I like people to know I am real.

Exactly - tho I'd never disclose in a session the amount of stuff I've disclosed on here, I do self-disclose as well. I just wanted to write something in case people already with a counsellor were reading this and getting worried.

No probs about the book - I'll give you a shout when it's finished, although as I say that may be many weeks as it isn't light reading!

It's nice to know that counsellor's aren't perfect either. I once tried hypnotherapy (which sadly was a resounding failure) for weight loss, and was quite surprised to be seen by a short fat bald bloke, rather than the toned gent I'd been expecting. I think part of me thought 'if your magic is so good, why can't you do it on yourself and get rid of that beer gut!', which didn't help much with the effectiveness of the treatment! I think my brain thinks too practically most of the time, and doesn't always see the whole picture.

I know what you mean, panda - seeing a fat bloke re weight loss... the danger signal for me would be if somebody like that refused to acknowledge their own issues, e.g. hadn't had their own therapy, or if the issue was obvious but they refused to acknowledge it was ongoing. Still, the concept of the wounded healer is an honourable one, and thousands of years old. Must be something to it....

Sorry, as I'm typing this, I can just see all the little guys in your present sig wriggling away - I can't type seriously any more!

Just got £9.66 on more free bingo, hurray.

Update 1600 hrs: no more now, I'm off for a little walk round the block before it gets dark. Total of £17.99 to come from the bingo sites - not much, but not bad either. I'm a bit confused about finding them, but I think you have to google the "ic" bit as well as the rest when you put it in the search engine....

The board is so busy these days I had to go to page 3 of my own subscriptions to find my diary!!! Just thought I'd post an update:
    - just been cleaning empty CD cases, so if I'm selling one where the case is truly knackered, I can pop the CD and its paperwork in one of these.
    - am chasing up a client from December who still hasn't paid, v v unusual.
    - following a really interesting discussion about underlaying on the matched betting board.
    - did a mystery shop yesterday.
    - still finishing off clearing the airing cupboard - a quick iron to a couple of tops, one of which I'll wear and one I'llsend to a charity shop. That feels *so* *good*.
    - my mum, bless her, rang up and told me about a feature on This Morning about mystery shopping - there was a woman there earning £25k plus from being a Virtual Assistant! I need to declutter a bit more, for the sake of my sanity, but when I have, thats a very interesting idea. I have good phone and organisational skills (especially for someone else!) I can do audio/transcription, even a bit of shorthand, all that malarkey, I think its a real possibility. They're saying you'd need two operational computers, which is another reason why I wouldn't do it now, but.... I like the sound of it, I do.
    - and I'm ploughing through a m.b. wagering requirement.

Why do you need 2 operational computers?

hi Karmacat, congrats on the bingo winnings. I'm interested in the Virtual Assitant thing - what is one exactly? I actually do have two working computers.

I think its about backup, really, the two computers thing :p - you can't offer completely professional services if you have to ring someone and say, yeah, sorry, the dog was sick on the keyboard :o or something.... It was particularly interesting because the woman speaking was an "older woman" - like me! I've wondered if I might actually need to go back into office work for a while, and quite apart from not wanting to actually work in an office, they probably wouldn't want me, since I am (technically!) an older woman    . I googled the term, and it comes up with quite a few interesting links - have a go, Seaxwyn. ZTD, you're a lamb, do you want a virtual assistant, by any chance? :rotfl:

I googled Virtual Assistant and there are a lot of them about - it might be hard to find clients from scratch with all that competition out there. I know what you mean about ageism in the workplace. I'm a mere 44 and I feel like everyone's granny when I visit my clients. Only yesterday I mentioned to clients something I did 20 years ago and they asked if I'd done it with my school. Er, no... I was a fully functioning adult 20 years ago
