Ah no, no problem Shaun, it was fun! It often is with you around!
However ... I want to get my act together now, otherwise this lovely day will be over, and I'll have been sitting at my computer the whole time. So:-
- protective goggles etc and then use the vile foam filler thing on a couple of big gaps in the ceiling where pipework goes through to the loft. Unfortunately, what comes *out* of the loft is often humongous spiders - I confess, to be able to clean my teeth at night, I have to (a) jump on the floor and yell, and when that doesn't work (b) throw a couple of handsfuls of water at the thing. So I'll stuff the holes with water, wet it down as advised, and spray. Which means the house will be freezing all day, as the stuff is toxic. So:
- I take this opportunity to do the next coat of white paint on the window insets in the kitchen and the ensuite to be. Which also needs the windows open.
- windows open means I can't go out, except for a short walk round the block, I can close them for a little while.
- ooh, I might do some digging in the garden! *Not* the mortaring of the veg patch raised bed walls, no way today Jose. Got to do something in the garden on a day like today.
- might carry on doing some spiderproofing in the bathroom - sealant strips between the bath and the tiles, that would be nice. And my mother's coming down in summer, she'll kill me if she finds the bathroom as bad as it was! I can't put a shower curtain up at the mo cos it would just be *another* home for spiders.
Thats it! Scratchcards are 3 x 10p, did the 50p yougov survey, can't be bothered doing any matched betting, I'd have to use my brainSee you later.

Evil foam filler needs an applicator. I'd read it before, why did I not take it in?
Done the first bit anyway, stuffing paper in the bit to be filled, to give the foam something to hang on to. And that was the worst, in a way, since it might have meant getting up close and personal with said spiders.
Nothing for it now but to paint the window insets. Sorry to report every detail in here, but its the only way I can make myself do it. And at least I can't hear anyone laughing at me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: except me.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Mornin
Just discovered the lawnmower-which wasn't very good anyway has died so off to buy a new one tomorrow. Not very MSE except that once I can SEE the garden I'l hopefully be motivated to plant fruit & veg.
Now kc as you're a garden guruam I right in looking for a rotory mower (seem to be offers around £60) for 100 foot flat garden with lots of long grass ??

Hi Duchy! ooh dear, a garden guru .... um, I have a tiny patch of grass, made smaller by the veg patch I'm making, and I confess when I cut it (twice a year) I use shears - and even so, it only takes about ten minutes. So thats my genuine level of knowledge about grass!
That said, if you want to just cut the stuff and keep the area useable, a rotary mower is fine. If you want stripes, an official "lawn", then you have to have a roller. If you have long grass in particular, you have to have a mower that will raise up pretty high - you can't go straight it and cut it to the level you want to end up with, it doesn't work that way. You might cut it to three or four inches? dunno the details here, really don't. When I was a teenager on wildlife projects, we used scythes.... not sure you can get them nowadays
Fay of the stripey socks diary is *very* cool about gardening. Or the greenfingered board itself .... I'm so rubbish :rotfl:I'm blathering now!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Oh - I've done the painting! As well as the window insets, I did a little bit in the kitchen around the door and in a corner, so I can just zoom away with a big brush at a different time. Going to get a cuppa coffee now, a big *strong* one, and sit out - it feels like summer!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
