Thats with seeing the only woman doctor the surgery has - but just found out she has a cancellation at 9am on Monday morning. Trouble is, I'd need to leave here at 8am - they were already 20m fast walk from me, and they've moved further away, and there's no single direct bus - two buses wouldn't save time, there's still a ten minute walk on either end. Bummer. Sometimes I really hate my life - thats what its all about really, but I'm just hoping that maybe there's something they can help with temporarily.

:grouphug: That's a pain - still, if it's getting you down, it's probably worth that early start on Monday... or, not very DFW, but would it be worth booking a taxi? It's your health after all, so top priority.

Hi Karma, commiserations with the illness, hope you feel better over the weekend.

With all the travelling about you do, I just wondered.... have you ever thought of getting a bike?

    Thanks both.

Squirrel: A taxi _pale_ aside from the heart attack at the lack of dfw-ness :rotfl::o it probably wouldn't save me any time, I'm afraid, and I resent paying out all that money and not saving any time. Its the rush hour, most taxis are taken up with getting statemented kids to school, and in any case, I live on the edge of town - taxis don't like coming out here, and don't have to - the town is divided up into 19 taxi areas, and they're only obliged to answer a call to out here if they're in an exactly adjoining patch. Believe me, I've quizzed a *lot* of taxi drivers over the years, *and* checked it out every so often. Thats why I'll never get a taxi *to* a railway station, tho I will get one *from* a railway station.

Seaxwyn: a bike.... um :o:o:o I have a bike. Lodged somewhere at the back of the garage, where its remained ever since I moved in. Truth is, I don't feel strong enough to ride a bike round here. I'm slim, but I truly am catastrophically unfit. And at 54, I can't just hop on and pretend I'm a teenager any more :( it would need a campaign of fitness before I could contemplate riding a bike again, especially because I live 4 miles from the centre of town, to go anywhere useful that I can't walk to is a round trip of at least 6 miles.

Anyway .. ahem.... changing the subject. I'm off up to London today (and I'm not cycling there, thank you very much :rotfl:) to see a friend and a film.

Morning! London was great - film was v v sad, I stopped off at Clapham Junction to do some shopping at the Asda and Debenham's there, and my mate and I mooched about in the Barbican like we owned it, it was fun. And I'm afraid it was nice to talk with somebody who's in the same situation as me financially - in fact, she's worse off - her work is focussed on the City of London. So we were swapping tips on alternative income for all we were worth, and starting up a mutual support group.

Today, I'm focussing on that, rather than anything actively dfw-ing. Bit of decluttering, a nice walk, a nice bath. And a nap, I've only had 5 hours kip!

Oh! Bit late in the day now :) it is a nice day tho - suddenly decided to do a bit of research about a great grandfather of mine in WWI - posted to Ramsgate, which I thought was a bit of a sinecure, I've just found out it was the most raided part of England! Little Ramsgate!

Shaun, hope your day isn't tooooooo tiring.

Morning..... well, been to the doctor, and somebody in the NHS now believes that I have no quality of life, so thats something. Blood test results to be awaited.

Carried on the genealogy research, and found the military records, including fairly detailed medical stuff, of said great grandfather. Ahem ... no wonder my great grandmother kicked him out for a while!

"no quality of life"? what on earth do they mean by that?

Oh, thats my way of putting it, not theirs. Things like not being able to eat if I do manage to go out, and cancelling most things that I have booked - that, I define as no quality of life.

Hiya, by the way - how you?

Poor you, really hope that the blood tests can shed some light on your problems.

I'm OK thanks - not the highest life quality here either but that's financial, not physical!
