Its crazy *not* to do it, isn't it. The only trouble is, I have to do it by rote, I understand the principle, and I can use the matcher spreadsheet, but when I try to explain it further than that, I get it completely wrong. In fact, Grumbler told me off for not reading the Intro thread, tho I told him I read it maybe once a month! Still, this latest partybets thing is just too good to miss...
Also - first time ever, I got 50p on a scratchcard, so have now withdrawn £10.50, off to update sig then to the matched betting board.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Just done the first two matched bets on the big partybets thing - cost is £5.41, so only about 65% profit at that rate. Still, its 6 or 7 times the profitability of mystery shopping, for a tiny amount of the work. _pale__pale__pale_ okay this is a horrifying sum:
this matched bet: 7 hours work (generous) for net of £65: £9.28 an hour.
usual net of mystery shopping £1.30 an hour.
Good grief.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Its astonishing, isn't it - at first, we want to do everything - or at least I did - then I got worn out and realised I had to step back sometimes. Eventually I started to analyse the rate of return, and now I'm finally prepared to listen to my own analysis!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Okey dokey, what have I done since the matched bet?
 - had some time outside yesterday, sweeping the rest of the patio (2 binbags!!!) and stacking branches. Need to prune lots more branches before the growing season starts, but this was a *good* garden day.
 - have delayed going to London, too cold, out too long, will go next week, the film's still on.
 - scratchies.
 - got cracking on tidying the room that will be the master ensuite eventually - everything's a lot more accessible now, and I sorted rubbish, storage elsewhere, charity shop, recycling, freecycle and ebay etc. Pleased with that!
 To do:
 - fair bit of housework to make the place presentable in time for tomorrow evening, when I start work.
 - ebid listings.
 - get my New Year's diary up and running, just reminders about things etc.
 - send out Amazon sale.
 - prepare for trading - not tomorrow, the first day back, emotion will be dominating the short term market, but prepare for it.
 - couple of things to list on freecycle - but ebid takes priority, and so does the trading! PS - oh, so does the garden, getting rid of a bit more overgrown stuff in the garden, even 15 mins is a real help.
Hope everyone has a good day.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

That's a good observation about the matched betting/mystery shop. I am just trying to get a balance with the mystery shops and not overspend as in it has to be a place i am going to anyway or i will not go..if that makes sense!
I have to start tackling my garden again as i was unable to do all the little jobs in October and leaves need sweeping up, branches need cutting. So that is one of the tasks for this week.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0

Hi Bob - I was posting on yours as you were posting on mine! Just been out doing my garden - leaves, pruning branches, tidying up in general, you can't see too much difference anywhere, but I know it adds up. I want to do the little veg patch, but I'm determined not to neglect the rest of it either - I like the *idea* of this house, but not the reality of living in it, so I see all work like that as being invested for the future, whether its to be rented out or sold.
The mystery shops - I think I went a bit crazy for a while. I did one in Gatwick Airport that will only make a profit if I sell the T shirt I had to buy.... thats mad. I was going to buy a pair of shoes with the expenses money, but they had nothing I liked, so I shouldn't have assumed they would have, basically.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Sounds like you've been busy karma. Sadly I haven't had the email from partybets so I think I will be missing that one - but am getting down to quite a few others.0

Thats a shame, mizmir - but I think you said yesterday that you'd found offers worth "several hundred"??? Thats still pretty good! For a new one, 188.com seems to have a goodun, valid to start until 21 January.
I *have* been busy, in the end - really pleased with what I've done in the garden, even tho it looks like no diff - I know there is! And I know every time I do stuff like that, it makes the garden as a whole easier to navigate. My neighbour lent me a proper pruning saw too, for the front garden, and I always like anything that solidifes relationships with neighbours, here in suburbia-land there's very little if you don't have primary school age children.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
