It *has* been nice. I really don't feel I've done as much as I should have - tho of the list up above, I've done this:

    - dumping old video cassettes at the charity shop, along with a coat I've never, ever worn (not so terrible - bought it for 10p for a fancy dress party), and whatever else I can drum up, in spirit of decluttering. Dumped the cassettes, not the coat - bulky!
    - bit of Xmas shopping. Yep!
    - get back here before the town xplodes with Xmas shoppers in the afternoon (thats really important, actually, cos its horrible. I might delay long enough to go to the library). Nope. Didn't get to the library, either, but not too bad really.
    - gardening, yay! - more of my exercise regime (actually, digging). Yep. And I went a quick walk round the block aftewards, just as it was getting dark, really nice.

Thats it - the walk on the prom, the online surveys, the 0% deal, the mb thread & the new current a/c, Michael and the kitchen - all, nope.

Actually, not going for the 0% deal was a deliberate decision - if I start spread betting something called cable next week, I'll have enough dosh to pay off my present 0% credit card by the time the deal expires at the beginning of January. Its a little bit like playing Russian roulette with myself, I admit it - but the fact is, I know perfectly well how to spreadbet on what I want to spead bet on, I've been practising it for a million years, its really a case of get off my *rse and do it, take myself seriously.

I know what the problem has been, and I've worked on it and worked on it, and at some point, I'm just going to have to do it. In a way, its very like the first time I ever sat down with someone and got paid just for listening to them and being with them - I vividly remember how terrifying that was. And I've been doing that for 20 years now! And its normal. Spread betting can be the same kind of thing, if I'd let it.

  • wow, you're going to go for the spread-betting thing... isn't it dangerous in the sense that you can lose lots of money?

Pania: The hemp seeds, I know:rotfl: didn't buy any mustard and cress, either. Haven't chucked the hemp, tho, so I might try that tomorrow. I always drown seeds, tho, they end up with mould growing on the top of the soil, I can never judge it correctly

GTD:The system I have, yep, this is it, a mix of:
    - candlesticks (god I love candlesticks, they're so beautiful)
    - support and resistance lines
    - European morning breakout from the overnight Asian trading.
    - time frames of 5 and 15 minutes, supported by daily and hourly charts.
    - Bollinger bands
    - stochastics.
    - ADX
    - I do have a little play with Fibonacci, but not seriously, again, they're very pretty.
Simple! Not. Oh so not. :p Actually it is, these are all ways of going with the flow, sort of surfing with it.

Right. Today has been a bit of a continuation of yesterday's list. I've checked out the current accounts for the matched betting, and will almost certainly go for one of the A&L ones where you have to put £500 or so in a month - as Martin says, you don't have to spend it, so I'll just cycle it through. So presuming there's nothing terrible in response to my post on the Gambling Newbie thread, I'll open that tomorrow.

Tried to do some surveys of one sort or another, but they didn't want me :rotfl: and I was going to put up a chart of a typical paper trade to show what I'm on about, but my spread bettor is down for maintenance, so no joy there either (slight  ).

So... um, what have I done? No accounts   but I did do about half an hour in the garden digging up roots and decaying grass, yuk, and then took another fast walk around the block - dfw for the property, and dfw for healthy.

That *does* remind me, I was going to list my plan for the garden. This is it:
    - flowers, perennials and shrubs in the front garden, fairly ordinary mix.
    - walkway and patio right by the house, each about four feet wide, just paved and kept clean (more difficult than it sounds, some of that fireweed type stuff has self seeded and made little niches for itself, so the paving has erupted, and incidentally made great big homes for great big spiders).
    - two little terraces (each about 18" wide) nearest the house - a mix of herbs, bulbs, sedums and self-seeded perennials.
    - first appreciable patch of ground - used to be grass, is getting all sorts of things in it, including self seeded fennel and mint. Its nicely contained by the terraces, I could do worse than gradually replant it with mint. There's a kind of path worn through the grass (its definitely not a lawn!) by the cats, which could provide a sort of natural boundary for me to work on. The bit thats near the terraces is scarily steep anyway, I'd never use it to walk on. The other half of this, actually, I could use to plant blueberries or something. At the moment, there's a little black moggy from next door sleeping there, so I'll have to make sure to provide something thats still comfortable for puddy cats.
    - next bit of terrace has a lot of trees on it, and big shrubs, plus two compost bins and 2 big piles of branches and logs and whatnot. I've cleared some of it, and planted forget me nots, probably thats where I'll try some cornflowers next year (the seeds I discovered yesterday :rotfl: ). The front of it could also be planted with blueberries/raspberries.
    - next patch up is the one my nephew dug over, which is where I'm creating a shaded sitting area. That rises steeply (uh, more steeply than the rest of it) to the back, which has lavender and rosemary and whatnot, and where I'll plant some berries.
