Morning everyone,
We have woken up to nothing coming out of the hot water taps, think it might be an air block as boiler / heating is thankfully fine, DOH is trying a couple of things before calling someone out, looks like it’s the kettle and a strip wash for me!
Snow is still here and wind is bitter, even with her coat on little dog didn’t want to go far on her morning walk and is now snuggled back in her bed.
Thank you LW and HH for saying about Lulu, we have certainly fallen on our feet with the new yard and I know she is well looked after when I can’t get there. The back roads to the yard are blocked with drifts, I was going to try the main road way today but even that has a small road stretch so we will see, miss my girlie
We are supposed to be going to the theatre tonight to see an A Christie play, the tickets were a Xmas present from my DB, really hope we can still go as would hate to miss out.
Planning to have our main meal at lunchtime, have some veggie sausages in the freezer so will have those with SP mash and veg.
Keep warm and safe folks, before we know it, it will be summer and too hot :rotfl:0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Holly and hugs to those in need.
It was very windy over night, I got up a few times to see if it was snowing, as we have to keep the mushroom vents on the roof clear but there was no snow, just the wind.
Our toilet has frozen so it's a shewee and a bottle for me at the moment. The marina toilets are still working and the showers so I will go over later for a shower.
Last night gale has forced the kitchen window open and it's jammed open with ice so there is a bit of a draught.
I've topped up the fire and made a cuppa, we have plenty of food in, mostly tinned as we only have an icebox freezer but we won't starve.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Hollyharvey
Hope everyone is safe, no falls.
Lainey pleased Lulu is being looked after so well
We are not going out, fridge and freezer well stocked. I seem to back up my backup plans. ie extra fresh milk, frozen milk, plus UHT milk PLUS powdered milk. Same with bread, veg etc, maybe won't have to go shopping for weeks
Hope you all have a good day, stay safe and warmIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning :hello:
My snow arrived not long after I posted yesterday and it kept going all day. It's not very deep, about four inches. Scampi was 10 minutes into his walk – it was more of a bounding about in the snow, he was having great fun! - when we noticed red snow, he'd caught a claw on something and snapped it almost in half. It didn't bleed much and it stopped quickly, but he wouldn't let us snip the broken bit off. I gave up after a couple of attempts and he nibbled at it. I'm still not sure if he nibbled it off, when I tried to look (from a few feet away) he bared his teeth. So I'll check when he eventually gets out of bed this morning. I tried to trick him into showing me by using treats and saying 'paw' then 'other paw' and he wouldn't give me the second one like he usually does. He's not daft, that boy.
The buses are running, well crawling really, so miss tru is going into work. She'll keep an eye on the weather and if it snows heavily as it's meant too, she'll come home early. She tried to get updates from the stagecoach app but it keeps crashing so she checked on the website, but she can't do that from work.
I'm not leaving the house today, apart from one walk with Scampi (maybe) and a few trips down the garden to check the chickens. I've finished my blanket so will spend most of my time trying to decide what border to put on it

I'm glad everyone seems to be coping with the snow and ice. We seem t have missed the worst of it, only a couple of inches here and not much forecast for today. I'm thankful because DD is supposed to be driving up from London tonight, I just hope the forecast is right. At least I don't have to worry about DS because he had arranged to take the day off anyway because it's DiL's birthday this weekend. He's due to start working in Bridgend on Monday though so I hope the roads clear for him.
We've had to go out to walk the Ziggypup, she loves the snow. DH has bought her a GPS tracker because if she sees a bird her recall goes down the drain. Usually it's in trees and we've had a few nightmares finding her again. She went off yesterday and DH was able to follow her using his phone.0 -
Morning all
Not much too report as we have been in for the last few days apart from walking Miss Dolly who loves the snow but she is another one who is happy to run off and do her own thing so i am not letting her off at the moment as its too cold in the wind to be stuck looking for her
I have been borrowing Ds ski mask and hood whilst walking so that has really helped with the wind .
Freezers dont seem any less choker which i was hoping for as we go away in 10 days
Will be doing the friday clean today . Dinner is pasta bake
Have a great day stay safe and warm x0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
We do not seem to have had a lot of snow overnight, the wind was blowing it about yesterday, but my tracks to the coal shed had been covered.
I left the heating on low all night, the bungalow was warmer this morning, have just turned it up.
Cleaners are supposed to be coming this morning, I will wait and see if they turn up. After a lot of discussion OH told me to terminate the contract, he said I was not happy with the last two cleans and the mistake in the bill was really the last straw, so I have written a cheque for what I owe them and a letter to terminate their services. I am going back to doing it myself. Plan to do the bathroom and kitchen each week, the sitting room and bedroom every second week. Will see how I get on.
Fish and chips tonight, possibly rice pudding for dessert, I have a couple of tins in the cupboard. I shopped for fresh fruit and veg last week so have enough to last until next Thursday, I always keep some frozen veg in 'just in case'.0 -
Just had a text from work, oddly to my personal phone rather than the work mobile, saying we are not to try to get to office unless safe to do so. We can work at home or take holiday. I'm not actually working until Wednesday anyhowI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Snow is forecast for most of today so I am going nowhere. I am officially bored now but realise I am lucky to be safe and warm. I am going to make bubble and squeak later on and then try for the third time to get my knitting right.0

Morning snow bears
Add me to the list with Gers no snow here now but the wind is pretty nasty. Patio furniture is flying round the garden like a scene from bednobs and broomsticksWe rarely get any serious weather issues here mum always says its because we are protected by the pennines ....doubt this is true but extremes are rare .
talking of a mother she rang this morning screaming and crying cos her washing machine had spewed water all over the floor. (its only a month old. ) Annoying granted but you would think someone had died with her hysterics. Naturally it was my fault and what was I going to do about it  quick call to AO and they are going round to repair tomorrow (i suspect one of the water pipes has worked loose) Trust it to go wrong for her it couldnt happen to a nicer woman......
Got a bit stroppy at BBC news this morning as well(as you do) They were reporting from the M62 where people had been stuck on the motorways for hours and hours ...one man with a 7 month baby in the car moaning that they were not giving them any food and water :mad: what part of dont travel unless essential dont these idiots understand ......I cant believe all those cars had essential journeys. I just feel so sorry for the real essential services that will have to sort all this mess out.
On a positive noteIm off out for lunch today with a good friend today which Im looking forward to... be good to catch up with someone normal:)
Some weekend shopping to do after lunch but nothing major ...still on freezer clear out. Wont need anything tonight I guess but need to get some chicken out to make a curry for Saturday.
Right best try and rescue the furnitue againHave a good day and stay snuggly
