My wife subscribed to the MyHeritage.com website on Feb 12, 2018 by making a mastercard payment of £64.80. On Feb 27, 2018 they took a further payment this time of £59.99 from a debit card number that was never given to them. Emails were sent but no replies ever received so she phoned them. The call centre operator sounded American not that means anything. My wife asked for her account to be closed and both payments refunded.
The operator was too quick to agree to this saying that a refund should be received within the next 7 days. Meanwhile I have advised her to check both card accounts on a daily basis.
That is the position today. How they obtained my wife's debit card number is a mystery. But she must wait at least 7 days before having both the credit and debit card numbers changed.
The merchant name on both cards was BLS* Myheritage Ltd. A company is registered with UK Companies House as Myheritage (UK) Ltd, Company number 06670598, the address is given as Unit 4635 PO BOX 6945, London, W1A 6US and the correspondence address for one Japhet, Gilad is 13 Hateena Street, Bnei Atarot, Bnei Atarot, Israel.
Suggest exercising caution in dealing with them and to give a cash card number for online payments. Load the card as near to the amount intended to be spent as cash cards payments are not fully protected against fraud.

Thanks for telling us not to be as stupid as you and your wife.
p.s. your wife gave the debit card number, stop ignoring the obvious.0 -

Of course it was.0 -
The only way they could debit your wifes debit card is because she must have given them her number. They won't have a crystal ball.0

So you suggest not using a means of payment that does have protection against fraud, but using one that doesn't instead.
Any other stunning tips?0 -

The real problem here, is why your wife is so afraid to confess to you that she made the mistake of giving the company her card details.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Actually that is quite a good point, it is a little worrying if she is to afraid to confess.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'd be wary of sending family details to an offshore company. I recall some Israeli ancestory website teaming up with a holocaust repartitions organisation and giving them special access to their data in order to sue descendants of Nazis in Germany. I tried to google the company. but no cigar.
it's pretty sneaky how they did that.0 -

If your wife has set up 'Continuous Payment Authorities', changing the card numbers may not stop payments being taken.
Your wife must explicitly tell the credit card company and bank that she wants to cancel the 'Continuous Payments Authorities'.
TBH, she didn't need to change the card numbers, she just needed to tell the banks to cancel the CPAs.
(Banks can do this as it generally benefits customers. It prevents all their subscription payments etc failing, just because they've been issued with a new card number.)0
