Hi everyone,
I'm enjoying a lovely lazy day...most unusual for a weekday...just heard we're closed tomorrow too, as are all the schools in the area, so that's me off till Monday now. Had to walk down to nearest shop this morning for bread and milk as my Tesco delivery has been cancelled for this afternoon. Called in for a cuppa at my mam and dads too, then had to walk up a very cold hill home again. Hardly been any snow here today, but its very windy so it's blowing into big drifts. My friend who was building snowman with her kids this morning said its like trying to build a snowman with flour! Our oldest cat cried at the front door this morning, stepped out and had his pee on the doorstep...then jumped back in!
Right off to make a cuppa and start a new book.0 -
Afternoon all
It's been snowing off and on since I woke up. There is a red warning out and we are on the edge of it here in Bristol. DD's work closed, DSs work has just closed and sent everyone home as heavy snow is forecast from 3pm. Very fine snow is falling atm.
I am making leek potato and cheese pasties for tea tonight. Not sure what to have them with. Squeezing an extra meal out of what we have in. It's all good.
DH has been up in the loft videoing his model railway for yoo tube. Yawn.......I am just waiting to see if the really bad snow with high winds hits,
HH hope your DH doesn't have to stay that late at work. What a stupid idea.
Well keep warm and safe folks. Hugs and spoons all round.

I went and did my job, then went to do a tiny bit of shopping. I wanted to go to a traditional butchers shop, not a sm so traipsed off well bussed off to the high street in the next area along from us. The city centre here is quite small but the conurbation stretches mikes and mikes, it tends to be a collection of little residential places, each with its own shopping area.
I got what I wanted and the butcher was selling massive gammon joints or the massive joints cut into 2 for a fiver. A massive one is less useful for us but I got one of the two packs. The smaller piece us in the oven now and that will be for eating cold or possibly some will get put into other things. The bigger one is in the freezer. I'm quite pleased, it was bargainous.
OH came to get me from (near) tge bus stop and scared me by telling me that the national grid was running out of gas (which runs our heating). I looked it up and apparently domestic supplies are not affected, it is industrial supplies that are at risk. Even so, I am wearing an awful lot of clothes rather than turning the heating up, OH is wearing his woolly hat indoors and he hasn't shaved for a few days, I expect all that fur must be keeping his face warm.
The snow here is steady but it is funny snow, it is unusually dry and keeps blowing and drifting, interesting to watch.
My face got cold and is now hot and red, my usual facial response to getting chilled, so with that and the many layers plus amulticoloured pashmina wrapped round myself, and my hair escaping from its pins, I resemble some strange type of medieval peasant now. The sort of medieval peasant that wears glasses and has a nice time tapping away on a tablet so all in all, a strange hybrid creature.
OH is making dinner, cottage pie.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
There was a very determined bout of snow which lasted five minutes and didn’t lie. Now it’s clear again with the bitter wind still blowing hard.
A neighbour called round, it’s open house here, as he’d been chopping down trees and needed a hot drink. He’ll be cutting logs for me soon which will need seasoning in the barn. Whilst he was here he told me I had the primary air vents open on the stove, I didn’t realise.
I hope everyone is cosy and safe. Enforced confinement is awful but need to keep indoors for a few more days.0 -
Hi everyone,
No snow yet today but it is very gloomy. The snow we had Tuesday night is still here & is now very crisp. I was happy about the snow as I had plenty of food in the freezer, made a loaf of bread yesterday (but now have no bread flour:() but the milkman is still delivering as is Royal MailHowever, there must be problems elsewhere in the borough as the binmen have not turned up this week & the ‘big item’ council collection due tomorrow has been postponed until the 12th
so the anticipated space will not materialise just yet:(
DH has cleared the front step & put carpet down:T to avoid any slips. Have been watching the birdies who eat & fly every 20/30 minutes or so, but no sign of the squirrels today:(
Wm on, iron warming up, DH working hard decorating, meal planned & most importantly the house is warm:j
Stay safe & warm everyone

I have texted the yard and Lulu is tucked up warm in her stable with a big old hay net, I darent risk going over as it’s starting to drift now with the wind getting up, but know she will be well looked after.
I'm officially fed up with this now; I get a filthy headache whenever there's snow, and the whole cold, wet and dangerous to venture out scenario is seriously getting to me.
I ventured out the back to put some recycling in the shed (where it lives between bin days) and restock the birds' feeding station, and nearly went base over apex just outside the back door. :eek:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I lost my wheelie bin but i found it in a garden 4 doors down.:rotfl:
Grumps building site has closed but he is staying down there. He has no doubt he could get back as his motor is 4wd but is it safe to?
