    Me again.
Just had a red warning issued here for 50cms of snow :eek:.
Mr Fix It joked " well you'd better walk down the shop for some beans 'n' sausages" then :rotfl:.
I don't think I'll be going for my dental check up on Monday either.
    Take care all.

I've been out for a play in the snow, cleared the front step but it has just snowed really heavily so back to square one!

I made pancakes for my friends children and took them over, managed to get them out for 20 mins for a snowball fight, all good fun.

Just found out that we are off again tomorrow, back to work on Monday then!

CHS's work is closing at 1, then some bright spark suggested that his team work until 9:45 as usual in case there is an emergency!
The service pontoon is closed on the marina, the jetty taps are all frozen and some evil toad has been stealing coal so that is running low too!
We have a full bag of coal, a bag of logs and if all else fails we can put the diesel central heating on.
    Chin up, Titus out.

There's been two very brief and frankly pathetic flurries which lasted all of five seconds each. Freezing cold still.

I have seen the photos of where you are camelot and further on towards Glasgow, it's horrendous.

I've stripped the bed and got a load of washing done which is all now hanging on the airer upstairs with the dehumidifier going. My work for the day is done.

    Keep warm everyone.

We did manage to get into town this morning and picked up a few fresh bits plus stocked up on dog food as that was running low.
The main roads weren’t too bad but the pavements were awful, I was glad that I had put my muck boots on, they are knee length, warm with good grips, my DOH wore his walking boots and said his lower legs were freezing, we have a feels like temp of -11 at the moment
I have texted the yard and Lulu is tucked up warm in her stable with a big old hay net, I darent risk going over as it’s starting to drift now with the wind getting up, but know she will be well looked after.
Stay safe and warm folks x
  • I am seriously fed up of this weather now! We haven't had the bus up here since Monday, the post van since Tuesday and if we wanted the car out we would have to dig it out - but it wouldn't go anywhere as the only road down into town has been neither ploughed nor gritted. And I won't mention the state of the side roads. Thankfully we are well stocked up with food supplies so at least we won't starve!

I put the recycling wheelie out as requested - even though the council said it might be a few days before it could be emptied - and it blew over in the blasted gusty winds leaving lots of cans and bottles to gather up!

Ok moan over now! Take care all in this b.... awful weather xx

    Afternoon All,
I've been off these boards for sometime now (again!) Must make more of an effort to post and lurk.

Snow is here with us, not falling heavily but it's very windy too and absolutely freezing -4 I think, It is meant to snow until Sat morning I believe.
DD is off school today and tomorrow, it's only a short walk to work so 100% expected to come in, I imagine tomorrow too. I want to go home and get into my pjs :(:(

    Keep warm everyone!

It has been snowing lightly, but steadily since about 11:00 and is lying, worst expected from late afternoon all through the night and again later tomorrow.

Have had a beautiful man pheasant and a flock of Fieldfares feeding here today, we are in built up area about 1/4 of a mile from open fields. Bird food stocks were diminishing fast so did a quick top up shop of seed and sunflowers for them, we had 12 Blackbirds yesterday, plus masses of small birds, just pleased that the budget will stand all the extra expense, I have decided I would rather not know how much I have spent at the farm supply shop this winter:eek: Had a good session at the gym with my PT, arms and legs are becoming stronger which cheers me greatly:D

Hugs and spoons to all that need them, Holly and Dumpling thinking of you both. Fingers crossed for everyone's families staying safe and not getting stranded away from home. Since retirement I have become a complete wuss and don't drive anywhere in snow and ice, when we had to run 2 cars it would have had less of an impact if someone had slid into one of us when out for work than now that we have just the one.

Hope everyone is ok in the big chill.DGS stayed last night so we had to get him to nursery school this morning, especially as he was dressed as a dinosaur for World Book Day and very excited :D.Its not in walking distance unfortunately but prob just less than 4 miles,at the top of a vey steep residential street. We got him there on time but the round trip took about 1 1/2 hours, the main roads were gridlocked and then just seemed to clear magically at about 9.40.They are not opening tomorrow though.

We have a break in the snow at the moment but the wind is ferocious. DS1 took me to Al dis as whenever the DGC stay they go through milk like mad and I only had enough until the morning, and theyre back tomorrow. It was busy but I think it generally is on a Thursday.Got some bread to put in the freezer & an extra 2 pts of milk.Bit of a squash to get it in there.Decided I might as well do the weekly shop while I was at it especially as I had a lift so whizzed round quick. We cancelled my coffee and cake outing with my friend yesterday,it seemed daft when the weather was so bad.Shame as it was her birthday but we re-arranged for Monday instead.

The log burner is keeping us snug, but the log pile is disappearing a bit too quick for my liking. We did buy 2 bags of smokeless fuel last week for the cold spell & it kept warm overnight downstairs. DH cousin posted on FB that she had no heating or hot water and there seem to have been a few others affected judging by the replies
Hope you can all stay safe and warm xx

I have been looking out of the window to make sure I don't miss a delivery. One has just arrived, but not the one I expected. Made myself a sausage sandwich for brunch and filled the new flask with boiling water just in case the power goes off.

My new display cabinet is still in its box and the china is on the dining table which I want clear for when dds arrive so looked out a sturdy box and rearranged the Welsh dresser. Two lower shelves have been cleared and ordinary glasses and tumblers have been put in a top kitchen cabinet so a couple of tea sets are now in the dresser. I still have china on the table so will put that in the cardboard box out of the way for now.

I e mailed sil to warn him about possible power cuts and have put the dishwasher on and tidied up the kitchen a bit so I can sit down with hot drinks and browse on my laptop this afternoon.

Stay safe and warm and hugs to all.
