Just to say that while I quickly abandoned secret jogging on the spot (too energetic by far for me!), I DID win the steps challenge. Late in the evening, Mr F said 'How the hell did you get over 3,000 steps ahead of me?"
He wanted a re-match this weekend, but I declined as it's going to be way too hot, so we're going to do another weekday one next month when it's cooler.

Hi Foxgloves, thank you for so many chuckles on your step challenge I have really enjoyed them. This week has been especially tough after a really happy day at a family wedding a few days later my daughter had a suspected heart attack, she is 49!! Although I dont post too often I love to read how everyone is getting on and if I there is a few laughs thrown in all the better.
Have a lovely weekend, try not to melt x7 -

Thanks for all your positive comments & motivation with my steps challenge. We are defo doing another one in September. I suspect I will be well & truly trounced in revenge!
@Sun_Addict - Hurrah for finding a branch of the shop which rhymes with toys, lol. We have also been in there this morning. Mr F was keen to buy some waterless car-wash in case of a hosepipe/carwashing ban, & had heard they had it for considerably less than the shockingly priced £30 branded variety he'd seen. And indeed they did....large bottle purchased for just fractionally over half the price. So he was a happy camper & bought a few of their cheap microfibre cloths too.
Glad you managed to get out on your little shopping jaunt. Think you defo need one every month minimum.

@Four_Seasons -Sorry to hear about your daughter. What a shock, & at a young age. I hope the Drs can get to the bottom of what caused it. I have certainly heard of people only in their 40s & 50s needing to have stents fitted. Hopefully she is in good hands with a treatment plan/tests, etc.

Afternoon Campers,
Ohhhh, it is horribly hot. No marching up & down the garden or step-building hoeing & sweeping for me today, thank goodness. We are both having an afternoon of leisure. Small money-saving wins today:
*Grocery shopping on budget. Am pleased with this as we did stock up on pasta (on offer), Quorn (ditto) & also visited the new eco-refill shop for a few items. It is going to be a useful shop. I bought a large refill of washing-up liquid plus containers I'd brought from home of salt, tarragon, curry powder & ground coriander, which came to (if I remember rightly) £3.29. In fact I queried the price & was told it's correct...."remember you're not paying for packaging".
*Made a batch of garlic flatbreads.
*Mr F has mended the latest leaks on our old water butt. It's on its last legs but he was keen that if we do get some decent rain on Mon & Tues, we need to be saving what we can.
*Still gathering seed for sowing next year. Sorted & packaged saved calendula & poppy seed today & cut seed heads from a pretty white mallow for drying. Also packaged some hollyhocks seed - spotted a beautiful row of deep cerise ones planted at the side of a local supermarket carpark. Loads of seed pods so purloined 3 ripe ones for sowing at home.
But that's the limit of my activities today. I'm intending to read my book out on our shady courtyard & maybe watch a film later.

Hi Foxgloves, just wanted to pop in and say thanks for your recipe for the pickled courgettes and onion last year. I made a few jars of it last summer and am just coming to the end of the final one. Good accompaniment to lots of different meals and a yummy way to get one of my 5 a day esp in the winter. Will have to make some more soon and use up the courgette glut5
