We have every sort of rain here today, from isolated spots to torrential deluges. Currently steady drizzle. Desperately needed.

We had a flash flood at 3pm. Our road looked like a fast flowing river! Just managed to rescue my washing in time.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Yes, deluge was the word for it. It's moved north up the county & Mr F is currently on the phone discussing whether they need to deploy the flood barricades tonight at his place of work. There has been flash flooding there since he got home. Raining again here now so only the greenhouse veg will need watering tonight.
@Four_Seasons - It could well be heading your way. Hope so!2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

We've just been driving down the motorway on it 😱 Easing off slightly now but there was a LOT of water in a short space of time 😮4

As my mumwould have said "I know we prayed for rain Lord but have a bit of gumption". Flash floods in our area too but we havent been affected by them (yet) though it did absolutely throw it down. If this continues with sunshine and rain I will have to cut the grass.

No sign of rain here on Merseyside 🙄4

Some rain down south but only a couple of heavy showers. Enough rain for 6 more sunflowers to open though.

Hi-de-Hi Campers!
Another morning of rain here - I went out & did garden pickings in it: French beans, blackberries & another courgette. Just realised I forgot to water the greenhouse veg, as of course they haven't had any rain at all, so I must pop out & do that later.
Just a morning of random domestic tasks really. Checked the shed, utility & conservatory for water ingress as yesterday's deluge was significant. All seem ok, although sadly, Mr F's repair on the water butt has failed - it was fine yesterday, but I'm guessing the increasing pressure of water as more ran into it, has proved too much for the triple layered mend he engineered last week. Will almost certainly require a new one now, but at least we know we tried the make-do & mend approach first.
I've had a sort-out of the pantry, found room for the chutney I made yesterday, topped up big jars of essentials, identified things which need using up & added a couple of extra jars to my herbs & spices collection. I almost got rid of a stash of glass spice jars as they are generally too small for our needs, but I kept them just in case, & was glad I did, as today I was able to 'shop from home' for appropriate jars for small amounts of loose herbs & spices bought from our new local eco-refill shop. As I was in & out of the pantry, I thought I might as well do next week's meal plan. It's a bit more meat-heavy than usual, largely because I will be making 3 knock-on meals from Sunday's roast, & also because I wanted to prioritise meals for remaining days from freezer supplies to free up a bit of space. I'll make sure we have plenty of meat-free lunches, as I do usually like to plan in more variety.
My Aug survey earnings have had a little boost as a £5 payment arrived this morning, followed by an unexpected £4 bonus for a survey I did last week, so I will hopefully end the month being able to cash out between £30 & £40.
Right, I am off now to crack on with a project which will hopefully also result in a meaningful Christmas present for a family member.
Take care m'dears,
F x
