Evening Sunbeams,
Intended to visit a medieval hall today but postponed it as my innards were a bit peculiar last night & I didn't fancy a journey until I knew I was defo no longer affected by whatever it was. We've had a pretty useful day at home. I side-shooted the tomatoes, tied them in again & stopped all the greenhouse ones as they are now waaayyyy taller than me (which isn't difficult!). Dug over concrete-like soil of lettuce bed & planted out lettuce modules. Netted against bad beaks & planted the leftover ones in a trough for additional leaves.
Today's garden pickings: aubergines, tomatoes, 3 cucumbers, spring onions.& 450g french beans.
Mr F has made great progress on his ongoing Operation Shed project - has cleared a pile of junk from one side & put it out for the scrap metal man, weeded the paving in front of the shed & (Oh joy!) finally started painting it. We've had the paint ages - a pale green, which we found on the yellow-sticker units at a well-known DIY store. We'd chosen a similar colour in a full-price vintage range but trollied that straight back to the shelf when we found the bargainaceous stuff. He's got quite a decent area painted & it's covering well. He's promised me I'll be able to get my vintage fabric bunting up this summer. My sister made it for me. She's been using up her fabric stash & had some lovely old pieces from a very elderly relative - probably 1950s & 60s. We'd planned to get rid of an old patio set but once we'd moved the table & put a cheery geranium on it, it looked quite different & more attractive without its wobbly chairs so we will keep that.....I do want something to stand a gin glass on after a busy day in the veg garden!
I've also finished knitting a sleeve & picked up the round of stitches required for the 2nd one. I've seen a lot of annoying jobs building up, so I must get onto those next week, before they start annoying me even more.
We have just had precisely 5 drops of rain. I do hope we get some of these showers overnight as everywhere is as dry as straw.

Thanks for the courgette info. I have grown them before but can’t remember what happened last time other than I ended up with a fair few. I suspect all my produce will be ready to pick when we are on holiday again in 4 weeks. I painted our shed bright blue and white so it looks like a beach hut 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

That sounds v cheerful & summery, @Sun_Addict..Our shed has been an ongoing saga & tale of woe, so it is nice to feel we are finally making more of that corner of the garden. Intend to source a new garden bench for the space in front of the shed but am going to wait for end of season reductions. If I see a reduced Tete a Tete set instead, with an impressive reduction, I could buy that for next to the pond & move my pondside bench up to tarted-up shed corner. I really don't want to pay full price though.

That sounds aproducticve garden day. I am still pottering a little but as I have had to move most things for the fencing guy (if he ever appears) most things have stopped.

Hope he does appear, @ladyholly. Delays with workmen always frustrating.

Hello Sunbeams,
Lazy day. Treated ourselves to inexpensive breakfast at our village farm shop to make up for not going on our planned weekend outings - petrol saved though, I suppose.
Mr F has been painting more of the shed. It's quite a big one & it's looking very much improved already. A neighbour Id never met from further down our road knocked earlier & asked if she could possibly take the chairs we put out for the scrap metal man. Yes!! Much better that things get a 2nd life. She's going to paint them.
I've been knitting all afternoon. Nearly finished 2nd sleeve, then just pockets to do.
Well m'dears, I've been having a word with myself. I need to shift some of the many Annoying Jobs which are building up again. We all know what they are.....the sort of jobs which could be tackled for free, or in a very few cases with a minimal spend. These are the jobs which build up until they have a presence in every room, the garden, the shed.....from where they catch our eye silently, balefully conveying the message "We're still here, you know. You said we'd be dealt with last week/by May BH/before Easter/last year (insert as appropriate) but Oh look, here we are, still untouched, ignored, unloved....."
Once Annoying Jobs reach a certain threshold, their presence starts to annoy me EVEN MORE & that is what usually triggers a blitz on tackling them. So the plan for the week ahead is to get all my usual daily jobs out of the way nice & early, then to hurl myself at Annoying Jobs, especially the thrifty ones. If I can clear plenty, I'll end the week feeling satisfied with my endeavours & various things will have moved on. If not, then they will be upgraded to Exceedingly Annoying Jobs & will be hanging around to pee me off for even longer. My choice.
Signing off now to knit cuff. Hoping to awake tomorrow with my very productive head on.

I’m on a mission to do some annoying jobs this month. Fed up of them rolling over into yet another month. Tackled the cupboard of doom in the dining room today. The worst job on the list has to be sorting out my printer. I haven’t used it for quite a while so the printer heads have dried up. It’s a You Tube tutorial type of job 😒I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

@Sun_Addict - Re Annoying Jobs. Let's go for it! We will feel much better when they're done. I just get sick of the sight of them. They are often such little quick things as well, but if not urgent, it's all too easy to file them under the broad category of cba. I'm feeling quite motivated by the thought of simply no longer having to look at them! Roll on Monday!

My list of jobs is longer than both arms. All i need is some get up and go but it seems to have got up and gone during the warm weather. Sorry SA and other sun worshipers but I cant wait for the cold weather. Then i might be able to do a job with my breathing sounding like a steam train and my legs being wobbly.
