Spent the weekend tidying and weeding the garden, which was on my to do list. Pity it’ll soon be back to weeds. Must admit I am pretty good at tackling jobs. Another done today was cleaning the windows, even tho it rained just after I had finished them.xx:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.004

I woke at 5.45 and went to the bathroom but ruined the early start by going back to bed until 7am. It is raining here. Woohoo. I wont have to water this evening. Shame I will have to go out in it later.

Hi everyone, I was having a productive morning working through my list of jobs UNTIL ... I had to ring the tax office regarding a rebate. I had to wait on hold for 30 minutes before the call was answered. while waiting for the lady to look into my rebate I was cut off .... aaaargh, rang straight back and after waiting another 30 minutes in the que to speak to someone I was happy to chat to a lovely young lady . She informs me that my rebate will not be looked at until 20th September which is frustrating as I applied for this on 30th May. Don't hold your breath if you need a tax rebate which should have a planned completion of 3 weeks (not over 3 months). on a positive note I have made myself a few beef burgers with reduced mince i had in freezer, so a no spend day. Away to attack more jobs on my list.4

@Cheery_Daff & @Humdinger1 - Thanks for the encouragement. It's been a useful day, although my feet are aching a bit now. I think I'll hit around 8000 steps today at this rate, which doesn't sound like all that many, but it is when you consider that I haven't been out or done any exercise.....just been busy.
@ladyholly - There wasn't any rain forecast for here as far as we could see, but we too had showers in the night & there was also a proper wazz-down around lunchtime today. The greenhouse might need a bit of a sprinkle, but I think everything else will be OK for a drink.
@marionmgcars - I like home made burgers - they just seem juicier somehow & you can flavour them with whatever you fancy. How frustrating about your calls to the tax office. It's such a waste of time sitting in phone queues as you can't risk getting on with something else in case you miss your turn. Next time I might try speaker phone & knitting. I'll try to remember. And for you to wait all that time then find out your rebate isn't even going to be looked at for another couple of months - very annoying.

Greetings Sunbeams,
Well, I've come to a standstill now - have got my book ready to read a couple of chapters & have just made myself a coffee. I do feel I have got off to a productive start to the week.
Moneysaving wins on the normal everyday jobs - Managed to get 2 big loads of laundry dry outside for free despite a brisk shower at lunchtime; baked bread & made a batch of pesto (some for tonight's pasta & 3 pots frozen). BTW, @Suffolk_lass - thanks for your mention of broken cashew nuts. I found some in town & they did work out cheaper than the whole ones I'd been buying. I think cashews work well in pesto. Pine nuts seem to have become ridiculously expensive, so I tend to use whatever nuts I've got.
Today's garden pickings:
2 aubergines
3 cucumbers
1.4 kg tomatoes
rhubarb (now stewed & cooling - will augment our fresh fruit supplies)
basil
Annoying jobs: 8 - I thought I might manage a 9th, but that is finishing my cardi & as the only thing that needs doing is stitching on the pockets, I think I'll be better doing that spread out on the dining table tomorrow, rather than on my lap while watching TV tonight. I don't want to find I've got one sewn on way higher than the other or anything like that because they'll be fiddly to take off without cutting through the knitting itself.
Right, time for a potter down to my pondside bench with my book.
Back tomorrow,
F x

Hello Diary Friends,
I'm chatting to you fresh from a lovely warm bath - I was feeling a bit achey from today's garden endeavours & I can feel that it's done me good.
Today has been a combination of my usual household management tasks - ironing, budget updates (to get everything nicely straight for tomorrow, which is Big Budget Day) & clearing more Annoying Jobs. I've managed to do 7 today. I'm pleased with that as one of them, which was sorting out the 🍓 🍓 troughs & their area took longer than I expected, as did sewing the pockets onto the cardi I've just knitted. Still plenty of Annoying Jobs to do, including one which is in danger of becoming a 🐸, but my job blitz is continuing all week.
Today's garden pickings: beans & basil.
This is the time of year when veg gardening efforts pay off. Tonight, I baked some smoked haddock served with roasted vegetable couscous & french beans. Apart from the fish & oil, everything else came from our garden.
Tonight, I'm testing out the coconut body moisturiser I bought from the bargainaceous shop which rhymes with 'toys' (southern folk may possibly not have this chain of shops). It is a 250ml pot for £1. I could buy 16 pots of this for the price of a single 200ml tub of my favoured body moisturiser. So I'm testing it. If it does the job & my skin doesn't complain, I think I'd be wise to go back & stock up next time I'm in town.
Genuinely looking forward to some number crunching tomorrow & seeing what I can do with August's budget.
Nighty- night, Campers!

Ooh I have a friend in Sleaford who has one of those shops. I’d never heard of it before. I got one of those ding dong calling 😆bundles a few weeks ago and I’m very impressed with it. It was £12.50 for 7 bath/body items.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5
