Morning
I'm in the NW but we don't have that chain of shops near here - but we have save - ers which is good. I have seen one of those branches of 'rhymes with toys' when DD2 was at uni in a yorkshire city
I bought 3 bottles of my fave cleanser as it was half price in Asder and i like A&H toothpaste but only when i can buy it for 99p in one of the bargain high st shops.

@Sun_Addict & @Deni_debt-free_dreamer - I think that the aforementioned bargain chain of shops originated in the North East, possibly Scarborough as a Yorkshire friend mentioned a 2-storey branch there way before we got one in our town. They are in our county, but in the more northerly areas..There are defo good treasures to be found there - in the past I've found an expensive organic skincare brand for £2 each & big tubs of Eliz@b@th Ard@n body cream for £5. That was a long time ago though - it's one of those shops where you need to visit regularly to see what's coming in. My favourite thing is that they have a good haberdashery dept which sells yarn, fabric, sewing materials, braids, ribbons, craft stuff, usually at a good price.
It's my Big Budget Day today, so I must crack on.
Have a good day,

Happy Big Budget Day Foxgloves! Do keep posting about your list of Annoying Jobs, it's most motivating.
I LOVE the shop that rhymes with Toys 😁 We don't have one in our most local town (although we do have a smaller version of something similar, which does include a haberdashery dept) but we do have one about 45 mins away in a town we go to a few times a year - I always look forward to a visit. Might treat myself to a trip out there when I'm next off. I find it an excellent source of Christmas presents! Hope the moisturiser does the trick, that's quite the saving if so!8 -
Morning Cheery Daff, Re the moisturiser, I haven't broken out into hives overnight, so that's a good start, lol!
It's useful for make do & mend having a haberdashery in town. I've been able to pick up things like curtain rings, D-rings, leather thonging, fabric glue & all sorts of bits & bobs. The crockery shelves are also worth investigating as I've seen discounted Portmeirion & Mason Cash mixing bowls on there. As with all these types of store, they've got what they've got & it pays to visit regularly.
Enjoy your day.

That sounds a great shop - we don't have it down here in the SW, needless to say! We do have in our little town Save-ers, P*undstretcher and a shop called cm3 which is a local one off I think, as I have never seen a branch anywhere else, all of which are good. B&M and Home Barg*ins are within a reasonable distance, but I wouldn't go there specially I don't think.

Yes, I think you would like it, @DawnW. It's certainly useful for a wide range of bits & bobs and I've bought 3 lovely lengths of furnishing fabrics from there in the last couple of years while we've been refurbing our house. We have one of the big bargain warehouse-type stores you mention on the way into our local town but I rarely go in there, even though I use the car park. I just don't seem to find anything in there that I think is particularly bargainaceous, apart from on one occasion, a big bottle of a chilli sauce variety which Mr F likes. I've had a washing-up bowl from there & a cat bed, but they were no cheaper than in half a dozen other local places I could have looked, & I'm conscious of the fact that they are usually heaving with plastic tat too. I suppose I should make myself go in to investigate cat food prices, though the thought doesn't exactly fill me with enthusiasm.

Hello Campers,
Big Budget Day today, so was number crunching for a large part of the morning. One of our 'Just for Points' credit card bills (which are paid off in full every month) seemed too high to me so I spent ages deconstructing it into categories to find out why. You know when you can't see something even when it's staring you in the face? That was me. The excess amount was from higher than usual car parking costs from 2 lengthy city centre trips & a day at the seaside, plus a couple of small seasidey expenses which I said I'd accommodate on budget day & had promptly forgotten about. Everything else was ok, but that higher bill & the fish box payment still to go out meant less than I'd have liked to pay into the Savings Pots. This has just served to increase my revived thrift.
Energy saving: Didn't bother with hair straighteners. Not due to go anywhere today so went full witchywoo. Also soaked my shredding pile in used washing-up water & composted it instead of using electricity from shredder (it was much quicker too!)
Garden pickings: 2 cucumbers, 3 aubergines & a bowl of tomatoes.
Annoying jobs: 3
Other useful activity: Did meal plans. We came in at about £42 under budget for groceries in July so I'm aiming for a repeat performance in August.
Feeling motivated for more money saving......which given the current state of the nation, is probably just as well.
Stay strong, m'dears & keep your mitts on your pence.

Don’t think we have that shop around where I live which is the NorthWest. Sounds a good buy if the lotion does a good job. I have sensitive skin so have to be careful with what I use, thankfully I can use the S@mple range which isn’t expensive.xx:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.005

Under budget - well done. Even tho I decided to have a no spend week after extending into a 5 week month I seem to have spent a fortune last month. So the brakes are on for a tight August month. Knitting from stash and living out of freezer. Unfortunately I don’t have a reserve stash of petrol 🤣🤣 so that will probably be my biggest spend.7

Excellent budgeting there- keep up the good work!5
