Greetings Pence-Wranglers,
I'm sure the forecast was wrong this morning as it was supposed to be drier & warmer. Needless to say, it was cold enough to be gardening in my coat & rained for several hours! I did get a few greenhouse tasks done - I staked the indoor tomatoes & tied them in, ditto the cukes & potted the peppers into their final containers. Watered french beans & sweetcorn which are still germinating - slow because of the cold. Curtain time this afternoon. Actually, the pattern-matching hasn't come out too badly at all & I have got the first one to the point where I can sew on the header tape tomorrow.
Not sure how much I'll get done tomorrow. I've hurt my ankle (a few days ago) & it isn't improving. I think from looking at anatomy of the ankle, it's probably a pulled ligament. I am absolutely hopeless at sitting around doing nothing, but I think the sensible thing tomorrow might be resting it, doing the R. I. C. E thing, etc, so a massive 'Bah!' to that.
Hope at least a couple of us have seen some sunshine today, but I'm defo not one of them.

Hope your ankle improves soon @foxgloves and that the RICE works. Also well done for tackling the curtains, sound good. Our bedroom ones still need shortening as they're dragging on the floor but I'm ignoring them for now5

Having broken both my left ankle and right leg in the past 5 years (not at the same time 😆) I can understand your reticence at resting up as I’m a very active person. Hopefully the RICE will do the trick.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Hope your ankle is better soon! When I had a bad sprain in mine last year, the advice was to keep active actually. It did however take a good 6 weeks until it properly improvedStarting debt 2018: £26,000

Thanks for the ankle advice. A little better this morning. I avoided gardening yesterday, except for watering greenhouse veg, & once the gas engineer had been & gone, just concentrated on sewing. I also wore my arch-shaped Vi*nics sandals, which seems to have helped so I have put them on again today. I also put a bag of frozen edamame beans on it when I was sitting down so will keep at that too.
Today is my Big Budget Day so I am on my 2nd coffee & gearing up for a morning of number crunching.

Thanks, @Baileys_Babe, no nasty surprises in the budget & ankle isn't any worse, though it really does need resting for the remainder of the day now.

Hello Sunbeams,
Busy day. Big Budget successfully completed this morning. Have flagged up with Mr F that June's buffer zone is £40 less than my preferred amount, but this is because I wanted to sweep a round figure of £200 into the ISA again. With our regular saver account too, this means that all the money we used to spend paying our mortgage is now going into savings. We are quite new to regular saving in this way & it feels like the best thing to do.
This afternoon, we removed everything from the big landing cupboard. It's really the linen cupboard but our camping gear was in there too because of it being such a useful space. Camping gear now sorted & up in our newly tidy loft. I have sorted through all the towels & bed linen, & moved some stuff to the charity bag. Floppy cushions..ie those where the inner pads have gone thin & rubbish have had cruddy innards removed. Much easier to store flat. I can shop a new cushion from home when I want a change of look & source a new pad for it then. Mr F has also shopped a tin of leftover paint from the shed to freshen up the inside of the cupboard & I shall make a nice new door curtain for it as soon as the decorator has finished work on the landing & stairwell (late Summer/early Sept). I've also washed our summer duvet as found myself contemplating a new one.
But my ankle needs resting now & will be getting the frozen edamame beans treatment later on. Oh.... here comes our naughty squirrel again to raid the peanut feeder!
Cheers all,
F x

Hey Sunbeams.... hello from my sunny, very verdant garden on what has been a pleasantly productive day on the whole. Useful town trip first thing & stuck to the list. Coffee out, but no cake as it is far too close to weigh day. Bought another curtain pole & lightshade ready for next phase of decorator. Bought body moisturiser & face cream entirely using my B**ts points, but did have to shell out for an ankle support, as it was hurting walking around town.
Other useful stuff: Washed a load of bed linen to make the most of free drying weather, netted the chard bed against gobbly pidgeons & finished my 2nd curtain. I just need to try them for length & do the hems. Mr F has finished refurbing the big overstairs cupboard & everything will be able to be reorganised back into it tomorrow. I took some duvet sets to the charity shop this morning. I may hate ironing, but I don't like polycotton so it tends to sit in the cupboard unused. I expect someone will be glad of it. I found a book from my reading wish list in the Oxfam bookshop today for £1.99. What goes around comes around, I suppose!
We just fancy something simple to eat tonight, so we're doing poached eggs with home made jacket wedges & mushrooms. That's defo not a meal to break the bank. Intend to finish watching a scandi-crime series tonight & rest my ankle.
Peace,
F XX
