It’s far too cold for May. Still have my heating on, I feel the cold unfortunately 😩 I’m hoping this cold May means a hot summer, she says clutching at straws. I don’t eat meat myself but cook Mr SA’s meat in the slow cooker to ensure it’s tender.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

When I was really struggling I discovered, via MSE, surveys and they were my saviour for Christmas etc.5

@Sun_Addict - I like a warm summer, but I wilt in anything higher than mid-twenties temperatures & don't want a very dry summer as I'm a gardener/veg grower...... but this current cold is ridiculous, I agree.
@cbsexec - Yes, survey income can be very useful. I am definitely intending to step up my activity on that front.

Hello Treasures,
Oh my giddy trousers.... I'd just ruled out the chances of any gardening activity this afternoon as it keeps raining & the sun is trying!! Ok, it's a proper feeble attempt but better than nothing.
Really useful town trip today. Food-wise, only needed steaks & fresh fruit & veg from the market, which means we will finish May's grocery budget with a £12 underspend. It has helped that I did budget extra this month to do a pantry re-stock at Al*i of tinned & packet staples.
We managed to get everything else on our list & two things I didn't expect to find - a lightshade that both of us liked for the newly decorated Man Cave & 5m of beautiful fabric for refurbing the landing. Still to be decorated & carpeted, but after that, I will use this fabric to make a new curtain for the linen cupboard doorway, new curtains for the landing window & also to cover the seat of the vintage 1930s bentwood chair which belonged to my grandparents & lives on our landing. It is a lovely furnishing fabric, a neutral colour patterned with peacock feathers. I haven't started the bedroom curtains yet, so will have lots of sewing to do. It will be much cheaper than having stuff made professionally though.
Anyway, instead of subjecting you to more of my verbal rhubarb, I am going to go & get my wellies on & make the most of this teensy brighter spell in the garden.
Bye,

Grrr, didn't get anything done in the garden after all, as I topped up the bird feeders (nut fights breaking out over paucity of supplies), gave the worm composter some scraps then the rain returned. So I've given the kitchen a good tidy instead & enjoyed watching a brood of baby starlings chomp their way through a big pile of mealworms even quicker than I could take down a walnut whip. Just waiting for my loaf to come out of the oven, then I'm going to finish reading my book & choose a new one.
And I need to put extra socks on!

The weather is dire isn't it?What are you reading Mrs F? I read Magpie Lane after you mentioned it and enjoyed it. I'm reading The Marlow Murder Club which is a very similar concept to The Thursday Murder Club which I read a few weeks ago. Well I actually listen on audib*e and both have been very well narrated.2
