CC sucking up to MSE as usual.
I'm a Board Guide, simply doing what I'm supposed to be doing and keeping the boards moving along as fairly and as cordially as possible. If you're not here to support the aims of MSE, why are you here?
TVLR is not doing a "fine " job IMO and I won t leave it alone. You can expect me to be having my say on there very soon as I am now a member .. I won`t last long I expect and will be attacked as if I am the devil , for speaking the truth of course.
It'll be interesting to see how that goes.
It operates on the edge of the law and just about sticks to it .
I'm not sure that it is only "just enough", but even if it was, surely that's enough - legal is legal after all.
I ve been entertained lately trawling its forum and other sections. I recommend MSE forum members to have a glance through it to compare it with a civilised forum. Very amusing how they edit the "C " word a little but do not delete it.
It's a private forum, owned and operated by its members for their own benefit. They can do and say what they like within the law, including having their own policy on profanity.
I noticed they attacked another G4S (agency employee ) who also was just putting forward how he was just doing his job as instructed by G4S in his hand delivered TV licence reminders and soon was drummed off by the neanderthals.
I don't remember that. I don't dispute that the footsoldiers of televisual enforcement are doing their jobs, I just dispute that (a) it is a job that needs doing, (b) that it is a job that needs doing in the way that it is being done, (c) that the level of lawless and unlawful behaviour inherent in the working environment there is acceptable, (d) that the prevailing attitudes to unlicensed householders are appropriate, and (e) that the attitudes to, and treatment of vulnerable people are appropriate.

This is not a game. I have records of offences (some prosecuted, some not) committed by BBC outsource company employees that include Fraud, Attempting to Pervert the Course of Justice as well as more serious offences involving violence.
It fulfills its remit in "aiding and abetting " UK residents in how to deal with Capita employees merely going about their lawful business politely checking for BBC licence transgressors.
I think you must have one error there for every word. The doorstepping, home search and interview under caution activities of Capita are not in my opinion lawful. There is no moral or legal offence of "aiding and abetting" people on how to out-wit a salesperson. Capita are not polite, and being polite would not magically make them lawful. And there is no basis in UK law to make door-to-door fishing expedition inquiries requiring citizens to prove their innocence.
The hatred and venom directed at "The Goons " (Capita employees ) on TVLR is unbelievable. Apparently I myself am now classified as a hated "Goon " and in danger of an assault ! because I shove a few TV licence reminders through the letter box now and again.
Who has classified you as a "Goon"? I deplore violence, so I would object if anyone directly threatened you (but I doubt that has happened). If someone said that they would use reasonable force to eject you if you were trespassing, then that is an accurate summary of relevant law - why not take it up with your MP, or your employer?
Its quite obvious that many members on TVLR also "revel " in how they are "putting one over " the hated BBC by thieving the TV licence costs and continuing to view scheduled live and BBC broadcasts.
The policy of TVLR is not to condone LF evasion, and always has been. Within that, if individuals want to admit, or claim evasion, I suppose that's their prerogative, just as I'm sure that the Motoring area of MSE has a few admissions of speeding (and worse).
You ( CC ) are on record of discussing Top Gear TV program a few times but as it was before the September 2016 deadline for iplayer rules I will accept that it was a legal iplayer viewing.
    Very gracious of you.
Morally though i don`t think you should be happily watching the hated BBC content then condemning them continually. Likewise daily versions of Channel 4 news, on catch up of course. legally correct, morally wrong.
Really? Watching All4 is "morally wrong". How so?

As for BBC content, if they don't want people to legally watch it, then they need to keep it off Youtube, Netflix, Gold, Drama, Yesterday, Really, Dave... etc.

To be clear, the objective of TVLR is resisting the Licence Fee and its draconian and unlawful enforcement. Within that community there are those who are not keen on the BBC generally, and those like me who whilst we believe there are major issues, do not actually "hate" it, as such.
Very amusing to hear James O Brian utterly demolishing you on his radio show in about 2 minutes flat lol. Your fellow forum members just shrugged it off and accused him of being a leftie BBC man and of course boosting your ego as per usual. Take it from me , you did nt do very well.
Why pick on the one interview of over a dozen where I wasn't give fair treatment? JO'B was decrying the right-wing anti-Beeb callers he had been receiving so I called up to set the record straight (as you do). But it turned out that he didn't want the serious discussion that he had been putting down other callers for not providing. To that extent, he is a bully and a hypocrite.

Have you heard the Nick Abbott call, or the Ian Collins one, they are by far the best. The James Whale one is good, too.
And by the way , Why do you care so much ?
I hate bullies. I hate corporate bullies even more. And I hate corporate bullies misusing the law and bringing it into disrepute the most.

Something tells me that you declare yourself "not to NEED a tv licence, lol " Colin. Am I right ? By the way, here on MSE we are supposed to be respectful and friendly towards each other, you would do well to remember that. You are not on your TVLR forum of neanderthals here who cuss and swear at the same time as ruthlessly attacking the BBC at every chance possible. The MSE forum is more refined than those nasty people on TVLR
. Baffling why they should constantly attack the BBC because they have opted out, they claim , of viewing the BBC and live scheduled TV to save themselves £147 a year..so whats the problem ? So shut up moaning about the BBC,, watch your Yank Netflix pap, prat about with catch up hours later after the event and go and spend the 147 nicker you ve saved and spend it on "something nice " such as pizza and booze, your usual fare.
Why am I surprised that on a Money Saving forum that so many people do not like paying for a TV licence.
Money Savers by their very nature tend to throw up a lot more than average skinflints and tight fists .
    Personally I think 40 p a day, £150 a year, is an absolute bargain.
I d pay that just to watch the 3 series of The Detectorists ! But then I am an honest person and do not break the law
All BBC PR, to a "T" - including the beloved 40p a day nonsense.

House Martin - can you please confirm that there is. in fact, such a thing as a person who doesn't need a TV Licence? (I need one, and happily pay for it BTW).

As a board guide, he kindof IS MSE, in the forum.
I recommend MSE forum members to have a glance through it to compare it with a civilised forum

I think one of the MSE rules (like other forums) is to not discuss other forums.
You ( CC ) are on record of discussing Top Gear TV program a few times but as it was before the September 2016 deadline for iplayer rules I will accept that it was a legal iplayer viewing.

What is the point in you saying this?
Morally though i don`t think you should be happily watching the hated BBC content then condemning them continually.

I haven't seen CC doing this, and in fact I've seen other rabid forum members like yourself accusing him of DEFENDING the BBC. You seem to think that anyone not paying the LF is trying to get one over, and doing something illegal - they're not.
I have records of offences (some prosecuted, some not) committed by BBC outsource company employees that include Fraud, Attempting to Pervert the Course of Justice as well as more serious offences involving violence.

Just noting this to see if HouseMartin has any comments...
Likewise daily versions of Channel 4 news, on catch up of course. legally correct, morally wrong.

If you're watching All4, C4 gets to advertise to you, for their revenue, so that's certainly not morally wrong.

Isn't all this stuff just a little bit off-topic?

It is, but unfortunately, this is not the first time that House Martin has made comments about me individually, presumably in the expectation that it puts me in a difficult position as a BG.

I'm afraid that's not the case, but it does drag threads way off into uncharted territory that is not appropriate for anywhere other than Discussion Time (and possibly not even there, in regards to defamatory comments about named individuals and organisations).

So I'm going to close this now.
