Gers was it an "all in one" method cake? I fund they can be a bit dense so when making a victoria sponge I cream the butter & sugar together for ages (5-7 mins+) before adding an egg at a time with a spoon of flour. Also, check the quantity of cocoa -best with around 3x the flour weight (i.e. 25% of weight of flour for a plain cake IYSWIM?!)

Yes, it was an all in one! I'll try the old fashioned way next time, thanks.

Speky - no way is the cake being wasted. My colleagues were happy with their portion and mine was just dandy with a sprinkling of double cream over the top.:p

My day has been odd -drove all the way to Oban to find that my one student was absent. Luckily it was a lovely clear drive and I spent a wee while pottering around the bookshop in compensation.

At home I've been busy moving around direct debits and getting new ones set up ready for the big T esco 'close down' of DDs. I'm almost there with just two to get changed. I've also closed down one bank account which was not paying enough interest to be worth the effort.

Had some lovely tomato and basil soup. The sateliite dish repairman called with his bill from New Year's Eve 2017 - Argyll time, no hurry to send out bills- so I paid him there and then.

I've hauled in the bag of bird peanuts which has been in the boot of my car for ten days. My car is having a service and its first MOT tomorrow morning so it needs cleared out.

The farmer's dog came in to say hello, he left muddy paw prints over my freshly washed rug and spilt a full cup of tea. Not sure whether I should be  or :rotfl:

  • I'm back! I have just checked my e mails and I am in the money!! I have won £10 on the Postcode lottery! We have still a long way to go before we recoup what we have paid in - 3 x £10 and 1 x £20 wins over the numerous years since joining. x

Welcome back! And congratulations on the win!

I've re-checked my lotto account and still no sign of my Euromillions cheque? I swear I bought the winning numbers....

This month I have managed to save £1,100 by cutting back on all fronts! But meal prepping has been an amazing help! As a youngster I must say seeing the old style's certainly help!

    Hi all

I didn't get on here yesterday as I was totally krackered after going into town, so just catching up now.

Jackie so sorry for your sad news; life can be so unfair sometimes.

Speky along with the others, I think you should go for it; I'm sure your Mum and Gran would be very cross with you if you didn't take the opportunity; and these days it's so easy to stay in touch between visits home - phone, text, email, Skype - you're not being selfish wanting to look towards your future.

Our schooling lesson didn’t happen as my girlie lost her shoe again, think she is overreaching ( when her back feet clip the heels of her front) and this is what’s pulling the shoes off, so I got her a pair of plastic boots to go over her hooves, hopefully this will stop it.
She's not taking her shoes off to get out of her lessons is she? :rotfl:

Holly ^ ^ ^ This. I would have thought treating someone with depression in such an appalling way would be completely counter-productive. But what do I know, I'm just another depression patient. Reminds me of the time the Ex threatened to "have me sectioned". Sweetie, your OS friends are all here rooting for you. x

Uh, oh - Mr LW is making "hungry" faces, I'd better go and see about some dins..... :D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Oh bless you honey how frightened you must feel its an appalling way to treat someone.I hope your GP will make heads roll over this .Sending you a big 'nanny hug', not the way to help anyone at all is it.

I am so angry on your behalf. Surely your own Dr knows you better than anyone else

Try not to fret too much sweetheart, sit you down and take good deep breaths ,get the kettle on and see if you can get hold of a friend or relation to be with you tonight. bloody bureaucracy just steam rollers over people at times.
Am think of you , take care

Oh Holly, Bless your heart, you must be wondering which way is up at the moment. I am so sorry you are going through this. If you are sure hospital is not the right place for you then of course you must fight this decision. Can the crisis team not get involved, they are supposed to give you enough support so you can stay home and avoid an admission. I have been sectioned several times and it is an awful thing to happen to anyone. Have you got anyone who can keep you company tonight? I am offering you a virtual hand hold, try to be brave sweetie and keep yourself safe xxxx

Thank you all for your good wishes, it has meant a lot today.

The Approved Social Worker phoned just before they were due and changed the time to 2.00pm, then she phoned again and they were going to be late and said that they would be here at 2.30pm, then again to say they would be here at 3.30pm. At exactly 3.30pm she phoned again and said that it would be tomorrow morning at 11.30am now. Talk about distressing someone even more!

It has meant that I could go to see my GP this afternoon. He was shocked at what is happening and did agree with me that this was very damaging for me, and that a forced hospital admission wouldn’t help at all. The trouble is, he doesn’t have any power over this, but I did leave him trying to phone the consultant to voice his opinion and concerns. He is also going to see me early tomorrow morning before they get here.

I can’t stop shaking and crying though :(.

:mad: they should be thoroughly ashamed of the way they are treating you. The best advice I can offer is to go into Holly practical mode now which I know you are really good at. Do you need to pack your clothes ? can you take a mobile or ipad if you have one? who needs to know? write down ALL the numbers you need in case they don't allow your mobile. More than anything sweetie dont be alone and dont be scared you are stronger than you think.

You know where I am ....dont you forget it

    Hugs
  • I despair HOLLY I really do. If these are "professionals" they need a kick up the arris. They throw that bombshell at you, keep changing the time and then say it will be tomorrow, which leaves you alone overnight thinking and worrying. How does that help your emotional state! I hope a friend or family member can be with you tonight. I wish I lived nearer. xx
