I'm back! I have just checked my e mails and I am in the money!! I have won £10 on the Postcode lottery! We have still a long way to go before we recoup what we have paid in - 3 x £10 and 1 x £20 wins over the numerous years since joining. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. Morning everyone,
Cold, dull and mizzly here today, another one who doesn’t want this cold snap that’s supposed to be coming, have a lot planned for next week.
Our schooling lesson didn’t happen as my girlie lost her shoe again, think she is overreaching ( when her back feet clip the heels of her front) and this is what’s pulling the shoes off, so I got her a pair of plastic boots to go over her hooves, hopefully this will stop it.
My farrier has said he will be over at some point today to put shoe back on so have kept my day relatively free, also have problem with my car so need to think about getting that in the garage, ho-hum.
It’s beef stew for supper so the SC will be going on soon.
Hope you have a good chat with your cmht lady Dumpling and that eases your mind a tad, feel better vibes to AOD and all other poorlies.
Speky totally concur with the only one life scenario, go make those ladies proud young man
:j on the win TA
Have a good day folks x0 -
Good morning chums and bright and sunny but a bit on the chilly side today. Thanks for all your messages of support it is appreciated.
This morning I am going to Bluewater to have a look at the frying pans in JL,not to buy, but to look and see how heavy they are, and what they look like I have had some good suggestions for s new one but then once I have decided which one I want I will probably come home and research it online for the best price :)Plus I have a voucher for a coffee and cake to use up
I put a small gammon in the slow cooker overnight last night and smeared honey over it and chucked some cola on top and this morning its beautiful and I have 800 gms of honey cooked ham cooling on a wire tray Once cold, I will slice it and portion up and freeze. Far nicer than the plastic stuff they sell in the SMand a darned sight less expensive.
Right, time to get the kettle on, boy am I missing my morning ginger nut biscuits with my cuppa.
Roll on Easter and the end of Lent:):)
Have a good day chums
JackieO xx
P.S. we won another bottle of wine at the quiz last night to go into the stash, now have 8 bottle saved only another five to go as we have a floating team of 13 Once we have enough we have a share out:):)

Good morning everyone,
Let me start by saying thank you to you all for your words of encouragement yesterday. The interview is tomorrow, so I leave at 6am to give myself plenty of time. I'm feeling pretty confident about it as it's a straight forward interview and it's for a job which I do just now. I'll update you all on Friday morning.
Tonight however is the night I say my goodbyes to my step-bro, his Mrs and the little'un before the leave to live in South Korea tomorrow. I'm not overly sad or anything. I'm excited for them. That's probably because subconsciously I see some similarities for if/when I leave not-so-sunny Scotland.
Anyway, again, thanks everyone for your vote of confidence. Each and every one of you are awesome and appreciated.
Dumpling - Always easier said than done, by try not to worry for now. I was told once that worrying is like walking around with an umbrella over your head, waiting on it to rain.
Gers - The cake sounds lovely. Although not perfect, I hope you didn't chuck it out?!?!?
TA - Better than nothing!0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Sorry to hear that some of you have money worries, I know where you are coming from. I am so thankful that we were able to pay down the 3 moves in 2 years senario. It did teach me that we DO need an emergency fund, so I did some jiggling yesterday and although we have a credit (for now) balance on the bank account, I have started putting a regular amount away for emergencies. I have made it a standing order, so I get used to it disappearing in the middle of the month. I use the old microsoft money programme to keep a check on our spending and check the bank every morning.
Called at the garage yesterday, the mirror is in, so I am taking the car round in a mo to get it put on. I wrapped what was left of the old mirror in plastic to keep the wet out of the electric wiring. Its going to be another £100+ bill. Note to self, do not overtake a Manitou that is wandering all over the road!!
OH has requested chicken tonight with pasta. I think I am going to have to buy the lean minced beef, yesterday I used kitchen roll and soaked 6 sheets of fat up off the top of the mince I had cooked. I just hope using the lean beef does not affect the taste too much. OH loves the gravy, but not when its swimming in fat!!
Right off to take the car in, Bye for now.0 -

Morning everyone, I have just finished breakfast and am on my way to the shower. Village coffee morning today and this afternoon I have a Psychology appointment. I was referred because I was getting panic attacks and flashbacks following my husbands very sudden and traumatic death. It has been a huge help to me and I would think they may discharge me soon but the evening and night following the sessions is always quite upsetting.
Speki, for what its worth I would also say "go for it"0 -
Scarletribbons, I have the same scenario with DH, he can fall asleep in seconds and I lie awake for hours.
Speky, I hope you're not imagining that Manchester is sunny!! Good luck btw.
I had an embarrassing experience yesterday - we went to the Camping and Motorhome Show in Birmingham and bumped into someone I know and didn't recognise her. I've been trying to think why I didn't since then because it's worried me. I know I'm not great with face recognition but this was someone I worked with for about 10 years for several of them in the same small office, just the two of us and we were very friendly. She's had her hair cut very short and wears glasses now and has lost weight - I can picture how she was very clearly and still can't quite reconcile the two. When her husband came up I recognised him easily so maybe the combination of her changing quite a bit and the fact that we were both miles away from home did it.
I keep telling myself that my memory is still better than most people's , which it is for trivial things (I'm an ace quizzer even though I say so myself) but I do sometimes worry that important things go astray.
On other matters, we bought a gtech cleaner at the show, I've been wanting a lightweight one for ages for the Yorkshire house which is on three floors and people speak so highly of these. We made a bad buy a few years ago looking for a light cleaner and bought a vax which might be quite light (compared to my dyson) but is horribly difficult to manoeuvre.
I'd better go before I bore you all to bits.0 -
Morning all,
I can feel its colder this morning.Took Ly 1a out early to avoid meeting the man who let his dog keep running up to her when she was on her lead.I asked him to call him away as I was scared she'd pull me over (it has been known) she is heavier than me! He completely ignored me  Felt quite shaky when I got home yesterday.Anyway our walk was incident free today I'm glad to say.
Meat and potato pie for tea tonight, the filling is already done ,just need the pastry lid.I'll be making some broccoli/blue cheese soup today to use up bendy veg and the cheese hasnt been used up and is going a bit hard. Not sure if DGD is here tonight or not,DGS is staying over tomorrow night instead as his mum has a hospital appointment with the baby first thing Friday,so its easier if he's here.Being half term I'll get some 1 to 1 time with him - I miss him now he's at nursery class full time,he's very good companyI know that DGD asked me if she could make a card for Mummy when she is here again,so we'll probably do that.I'm still hoovering up small beads from her last 'creative' session
Good luck for the interview tomorrow Speky. My son went to Australia for a year,we missed him of course but you adjust, and wouldnt have wanted him to miss the opportunity. Manchester is a great place,we live in a town 12 miles away and like to go for a night out, though our train isnt running at weekends for the time being due to work on electrification of the line.
Hugs to those with worries, and 1 for Poppy, sounds like youve had a really hard time xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Gers was it an "all in one" method cake? I fund they can be a bit dense so when making a victoria sponge I cream the butter & sugar together for ages (5-7 mins+) before adding an egg at a time with a spoon of flour. Also, check the quantity of cocoa -best with around 3x the flour weight (i.e. 25% of weight of flour for a plain cake IYSWIM?!)2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
