Old Style Daily Wednesday 21st February 2018

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Thank you HollyH for starting us off so bright and early. I couldn't sleep either so just came downstairs for a mooch around the internet.

Everyone is still fast asleep here so it is nice and peaceful. My brain is going 90 miles an hour worrying about various different scenarios about family life. Steve has put his CV into a different company but if he gets a job with them, they are based much further away so we would have to get a car and we really really can't afford it. I have had the dreaded letter that I have to apply for PIP and I am panicking that I won't get it. Lots of financial worries and stress that I am struggling with.

My lovely cmht lady is coming to see me this afternoon. It feels like ages since I saw her last as she has been off work as she was ill. Hopefully I will be able to talk to her a bit about what is going on. I don't want to go out today as I have such a busy week with appointments for the girls.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning everyone and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.

I thought I would sleep well after a virtually sleep-free night but that was wrong. I have had about 4 hours of broken sleep, better than nothing. Still lurgified but the explosive sneezing is lessening now, so I hope it is on its way out.

I made a small stir fry with noodles last night and enjoyed that - it was a fling in what's there meal and worked well. At least I think so but my sense of taste and smell isn't quite right at present.

This morning feels quite cold, and I hope next week's predicted cold snap doesn't happen. If it does though, it may not last too long. While DS is away, we have been more ascetic with heating. He likes it tropical, we don't and it seems awfully wasteful. But this does mean that there is massive scope for turning the temperature up or perhaps that is the wrong way to look at it.

I'll probably have another day of staying indoors and hope to go back to work tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a good day
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Work appears to have made me stress this week....is is Friday 4pm yet? lol

Dry again this morning but still dark so who knows what the day will bring. I'm up early on a non swimming day so I can take some food to DDs to leave in her fridge. At least they will have something to eat after a long flight and I think they are both back at work tomorrow.

Cleaned the downstairs windows but only inside, thought it would get dark if I went outside! I also took the car to be washed, can't remember when it was last done and I couldn't see out of the side window. All sparkly now and only cost £4.

Hope you feel better again AOD and all hospital appts go well.

Another day at the mad house beckons. Take care. XX
  • Morning folks and thanks for setting us off HOLLY. I think lack of sleep finally caught up with me last night as I actually slept for 6 hours solid! No doubt I shall be back in insomniac mode tonight.

I think we may have seen the last of the Spring-like days we have been having this week as today's forecast is cooler and cloud! The not so nice weatherman said last night that next week could well be the coldest week of the winter! Cold I can cope with but we don't want any more snow thank you!

DS is coming this morning to have a look in our gutter at the back. The last rain we had was coming over the top like a waterfall. Obviously something clogging it up somewhere. Mr TA has always done these jobs himself but, with his balance steadily getting worse with the neuropathy. he can stumble when on the floor never mind up a ladder.

The Thursday shop is being brought forward to today as Mr TA has his Oncology injection in Leeds tomorrow and that takes up most of the day with the 2 bus and 1 train journey there and back involved as well. Not a lot of shopping is needed as still living from the freezers. So just F & V and fridge stuff.

Lunch will be the usual soup and sarnie I expect but tea is already made. The 3 DGDs are here after their dancing and clubs, so the individual shepherd's pies I made yesterday will just be to pop in the oven for their arrival.

Time for another coffee so have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, carers, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all xx

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark but damp and cold here.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, I'll wake him shortly although he doesn't have college today.

Dinner last night was liver, bacon, sausage, mash, peas/veg and gravy, lovely it was too. Luckily everything had defrosted properly by the time I got home, so just needed prep and cooking. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost so tonight we'll be having chicken in country sauce with HM egg and veg fried rice, it'll be a nice change to mash and veg.

Yesterday work was another strange day, very busy or quiet but we got everyone seen. Only working half day today as DS2 has an appointment this afternoon, so taking him to that. I'll be on days' off from later today until Monday.

Called in at mum and dad's after work yesterday but they weren't in, so will give them a ring later. They did have several appointments this week so a busy week for them.

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone.

After a very clear abd cloudless sky last night the horizon is smothered in low white mist or cloud. The stars were shining so brightly I went outside for a (freezing) few minutes to just look and be surrounded by them.

My evening was uncomfortable as I ate a bag of D oritos in one go. Plainly a bout of comfort eating  The ‘rehearsal’ cake is a bit dense and more cocoa powder will be needed next time. The raspberry powder sieved over the top layer of cream worked well.

DM had appointment at the geriatric day hospital with a different doctor who thinks that her ‘falls’ are down to low blood pressure. That makes sense so hopefully some treatment / diet changes will help.

The light is beginning to come across the sky so I must get myself roused and going.

I hope that everyone is doing well or getting better. Happy Wednesday.
  • Morning all. Seems dry here - yesterday was a beautifu; sunny day, cold though. I got some towels nearly dry outside!!

I didn't sleep too badly last night, but only because I'd had a rubbish night the night before, DH puts his light out, falls asleep immediately, and doesn't wake till the next morning. Somebody would have to knock me over the head before I could do that.

Dumpling, sorry to hear you're worried and upset.
Jackie O, another death in the family, so sorry.
Speky, I'm sure your family want what's best for you, and if that's a move , go for it!

Yesterday I was busy round the house after my tai chi session, then out last night for the quiz..Today I've got some sewing to do, and we'll take dgd for her swimming lesson after school. It saves her Mum doing it - she's nearly 8 months pregnant, and is feeling tired now.

Hugs to the poorly and worried.
    Take care folks

    Morning :hello:

I've been forgiven. Scampi led next to me on the sofa and fell asleep with his head on my lap. All is right with the world, lol.

I've had Christmas on my mind (it never really goes away, lol) and have come up with an idea for gift bags. I had a quick google and couldn't find any exactly the same so I've been playing with yarn and have made a couple. I'm quite pleased with them so will do them properly this morning.

First though, I need to hoover up the dog fur. It would be easier and quicker if Scampi would let me hoover him every morning :D Miss tru is home for lunch, we'll be watching Red because I love Bruce Willis and she loves Helen Mirren and is miffed that she's missed a film with her in it :D Will probably faff about with seeds and propagators later.

Rubbish and recycling have gone out this morning and I will put a wash on before I go to work.

Specky I would go for it if I were you ! your mum and Nan would be so proud xx

    Have good days all xx
