I'm most surprised that the bank is talking to you in this detail? They should not be divulging anything while an investigation takes place.
I don't believe a word of the OP. A bank fraud team wouldn't disclose anything to the OP, especially as 'tipping off' is a criminal offence.
Now, their 'friend' may have told them what they told the bank but that is not what is posted.0 -

This wouldn't constitute tipping off. The bank hasn't made any suggestion that the OP is being reported for suspected money laundering.0 -

Yes because I just love coming online and wasting my time by making up stories.... please
Thank you for the genuine replies.
I have been back and forth with the bank all day yesterday and sadly I get told ‘it’s under investigation’
I’ve asked if she has provided any evidence that I can see it ? ( as there is none of course because it’s not true!)
I have emailed her a multitude of times asking her to please retract the claim.
I’m hoping that the bank will see sense and stop this.
I’m going to the branch today to withdraw money from a saving account I have. Luckily it is only my current account that is frozen. The bank have said that my direct debits etc will go ahead as normal.
I just keep thinking it’s such a stupid amount to scam someone for £100!!! I know they have to investigate etc but it’s just such a pain.0 -

If you only have accounts with one bank then now is a good time to look at opening other accounts at other banks as a back up for situations like these. Even a credit card at another bank would be useful aswell.
If you looks at the best bank accounts on here you will also be able to get a far better interest rate on your savings by spreading them across multiple high interest paying current accounts and regular savers.0 -
OP - any updates ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Wow, what a crazy story! Did you get a receipt from the taxi company? I'd be tempted to show the bank that to help them see it was a genuine payment.0
