 Message my mum to ask her about somewhere I could possibly get my laptop looked at, the fan is making a dreadful noise so ought to get it sorted before it goes bang! (its been like this for weeks :(:o )

Please don't hoover it! Blow not suck! You don't want to suck up a component!

    An IT technician would simply:

    Power down laptop.
Remove the cover. Look for an air vent on the laptop, there should be an access panel nearby.
    Remove the battery.
    You'll see the fan blades.
Get a can of compressed air from eBay: about £3. Search for "compressed air can". Also sold in some PoundShops.
Now blow out the dust. (You may want to do this outside or in a dry sink.) Hit the fan in short bursts from lots of different angles, making sure to blow most frequently in the direction of the air vent. Don't get too close with the nozzle. You don't want to damage the fan or anything else.

If you take it to somone to do don't pay more than a tenner.

Cheers Ally! I thought you could do it gently with a brush attachment through the grid (without removing the cover)... good job I don't have a laptop :o

You could gently brush it was a paintbrush from outside but if the fan is that noisy it might not be all that fruitful. Also by poking from the outside (theoretically) you might compress the dust and prevent the blades turnings altogether.

    Afternoon all :)
Very chilly here today again, though at least it is dry and sunny. Been to a flea market this morning and managed to buy a few things to sell on. Also bought some bargain cheese from the chilled van there - 3 x 350g blocks of mature cheddar (a Scottish brand) for £5 :)

    Other than that:
Decided it is too cold for gardening!
Made leek and potato soup for lunch
Made a coffee sponge as I fancied something sweet :o Seemed strange making a cake without a small person around to lick the bowl :rotfl:
Gammon out of freezer to cook for dinner - large joint I bought for Christmas and didn't use. Will roast some of the veg I got from the market the other day to go with it, and there will be loads of meat left for other days :)Done, loads left for future meals :)
Will do some cleaning this afternoon (honest!) Did lower set of stairs and the big bathroom :)
Updated household spreadsheet and business records with today's spends
    Checked banks
Looked for surveys, but none found yet
Washed out a plastic bag that had contained frozen vegetables and pegged it out on the line to dry, so I can reuse it :) (a very small thing I know :o)

Wish it would warm up a bit so I could do some gardening!

    Hi February Fabulistas,

    Wee Elf has tonsilitis.

    Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Three:

    * Good, homemade, sustaining breakfast.

    * Work very hard on my own mental health issues. Do Holistrio App.

    * Check online banking and broadband usage.

    * Turned off alarm clock until tonight, it resets itself automatically.

    * Went on a hike/photogra-faff with DW this morning. Got some nice shots of seals and a Little Egret. (Posted in the usual place.) Lovely sunny day.

Off to do some batch cooking now. Will add to the list of what I'm making as (if!) I get inspired:

:) Curried sweet potato and neep soup.

    :) Homemade KFC chicken strips.

    :) Homemade potato wedges.....

    ...ran out of steam.
