If you get a offer to stay with a ISP say with sky, and its for 12 months @ £xxxx, can they put up that price during the 12 months. This offer would be a retention offer.

Just play the game. A price rise is going to happen ever year for every provider so you have to make the best of it. I'm now waiting for the Plusnet rise so I can jump ship again and pick up some more cashback combined with new customer offers.

Yes, I was paying £17.40 for ADSL with Sky last year when the line rental price went up to £18.99. I did get a £1.59 discount to wipe it out however.

Its all a bit confusing to me this.

So if i was given a offer to stay for £20 a month for BB and line rental, and 3 months later BB goes up by £4 and line rental by £1, then for the remaining 9 months i pay the extra £5 on top of the original £20 so it does cost me?

You'd get the chance to leave early in that case and can either use the opportunity to negotiate back down to the £20 or just find someone cheaper.

Looks like the new price has now been posted:-

£30 for ADSL (£20 new customers)
£38.99 for UL Fibre (£30 new customers)
£43.99 for UL Fibre Max (£35 new customers)

Going to my offers gives me the full price £38.99 for UL Fibre but I'm guessing that's temporary.

    Edit: Shockingly good prices

In your online account, if you click to cancel your contract you may get a different offer. Worked for me although I didn't accept it.

If you click to cancel you then get asked the reason (too expensive being one of them), click of one of the reasons (don't think it matters which one) and a new offer appears. Just close the browser without accepting (unless you want to accept of course).

My BB and line rental is out of contract in 9 days and when i click cancel it says unable to view offers online, contact us on this number. Maybe have to wait until i am out of contract before this works. Still thinking of switching though but would like to see any offers.

I'm glad I'm leaving! I don't think I've ever seen anything in 'My Offers', it's always blank.
