So after a couple of years burying my head in the sand thinking it would all be OK in the end i have come to realise i need to get it together and man up. After managing to rack up just over £18k of debt with many a silly decisions mainly me and my wife thinking we could afford to rent a house that was well out of our budget we have moved back to mum and dads and i have now added it all up contacted all the relevant companies and will begin the path to being debt free. Debts can be seen in my signature. my target is debt free by august next year and i believe that is more than achievable . just thought id share my journey with all you lovely people :j:j

Nothing paid so far but also very little spent with some extra money saved and coming in soon
Phoned EE to see if i could reduce my phone bill only to be told ive been paying £4.99 a month ontop of my bill for a 1gb data add on i didnt know i have they've taken £30 off my bill as a goodwill gesture and also notified me of a gameloft subscription for .99p a week i knew nothing about.
contacted game loft who will be refunding me £47 by next friday latest which will be going straight towards a debt most likely SSE.
payday next friday and hoping to make shave around £1000 of my total so staying optimistic at the moment.

Good luck with your journey to debt freedom!

Have you a plan to pay debts in order of highest interest first?

No not really the majority of the debts are with creditors now and have had the interest frozen as a result so just going to pay them all off equally other than the car loan which is in good shape with no arrears for that i will be making the regular payment plus saving abit towards a early settlement offer

I was just thinking the likes of Satsuma and Quick Quid must be eyewatering interest rates so was going to suggest clear them first, but if you have a plan then that's the main thing!

Best of luck, it'll be a weight off your chest when the time comes and you're debt free :)

Cheap couple of days for me not really had much in the way of outgoings but did get £100 from halifax this morning as a goodwill gesture for a complaint i raised meaning i could throw some money at debt so £81 paid to sse taking me to £899 owed to them and £20 spent on a few bits for the kids. should be a pretty cheap weekend for us as were all spending some time sorting the garden out for when summer finally arrives.

roll on payday on friday so i can start making bigger dents into these debts

Nothing paid today but also nothing spent and a £10 prepaid master card cashed out from swagbucks which i am hoping to be able to use as a payment to SSE although not sure if that is possible as never tried before but we shall see when it comes through. really tired of waiting for payday now just want to crack on and start clearing this asap almost makes me wish i was paid weekly then i would be seeing more regular progress.
Free evening planned for tonight will be treating the wife to Take away from Bellas italalia with a £20 giftcard we got for Christmas plus a 50% off voucher for takeaway.

    roll on friday
