MSE News: Waitrose to scrap "confusing" offer

Got some £10 off £50 shop today. I've received £X money off £X spend on a monthly basis. Still haven't bought anything since the PYO was ended though.
I've just bought from elsewhere and whereas before I would be thinking about what I can buy in Waitrose, I no longer do.0 -

Waitrose, if this was an attempt to get me in the doors, it failed.0 -
Be glad you got that! I was sent £5 off a £50 spend; I don't think I've spent £50 on food in one go ever anywhere let alone at Waitrose! It's an empty fridge day if I've had to spend £30- and I'm unlikely to do that at Waitrose. I wouldn't have minded if these were not upgrades on their last effort: £4 off a £40 spend. I didn't use any of those and don't plan on using any of the current batch either, still, at least I wasn't lured in to end up buying things I otherwise wouldn't.

Similar here regarding W/rose, but Sainsbugs have sent me 6p litre off fule if spending over £20.
Trouble for them is what I need to buy is cheaper elsewhere and any potential fuel saving is more than covered by spending less on groceries elsewhere

Four months later and they seem to have quietly abandoned the tailored voucher scheme that replaced PYO
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
I still get the £10 off £50 spend in store vouchers. I went into Waitrose for the first time in months recently and used one of them as there were some good Mothers Day 1/3 off deals.
I did notice they have also removed many of the decent choices for the 3 for £10 meat/fish offers though.0 -

They have indeed, though like MysteryMe I still get the £8 off £40 vouchers - their algorithms know it's the only way to get us in there!
Aldi and Lidl (primarily Aldi) are hitting them hard, and it's getting increasingly difficult for them to survive against prices which are often 50% lower than theirs - particularly when the quality and the suppliers are much the same.0 -
I got a bunch of 50p off vouchers this morning, all Easter-branded.
Bit of a mixed bag - one was for hot cross buns which I will use, another was for "table sauces and condiments" which I never buy as I don't like them (although this was "chosen for you" apparently!).
I'm not dancing around the room, but it's better than a poke in the eye.0 -

Ditto. About half for things I might buy and half for things I wouldn't (or wouldn't buy in Waitrose). It's better but Sainsbury are still better at matching the offer to actual shopping habits.I need to think of something new here...0
