    Thanks folks,
Shocked to see the term 'sanitary' being used to describe menstrual/period products in 2021 by money saving expert.

Using this term is stigmatising as it suggests that periods are dirty and unclean which is not the case. Menstruating people should not have to deal with this stigma and ignorant beliefs, which is reinforced (albeit not so much as it used to be) by this kind of language.

This needs to be considered and changed.

How can I make this point to Money saving expert teams and get them to notice without resorting to Twitter?
Shocked to see that you have posted an old thread from way back in Feb 2018. So not 2021.  LOL.  :D  But good try.

There are already other names for them. Unfortunately none of them are polite enough to be said in public.

Okay, sorry but I am going to give TMI

Trying to use none applicator tampons when you are bleeding like a stuck pig. PMLS. Forget it.

I was one of those people with very heavy periods so Super Plus Tampon, with a Super pad. If out and about I actually had to use the disabled toilet as the blood on my hands etc looked like I had murdered someone. The cheap own brand products just did not cut it at all!

The simple case of one size does not fit all when it comes to sanity products and cheaper does not work out as money saving.
I have heavy periods too, abnormal i take tranexamic acid as i can literally bleed out handsful in mins. Even the supers in always were not enough until i take this drug which sorts the problem.  I have also found that if i eat too much sugary products it will make my periods heavier, i'm not diabetic.  So my issue could be more dietry. I would mostly use always or bodyform as my second choice.

I have no problem being called that it.  There are more important things we need to be offended about.  I am a woman i have periods/menstruate, though been times when i had pain and messed myself up wished i did not and use sanitary pads.

  • I made the switch to a cup recently, and I have to admit I was impressed. They're not cheap initially, but I think over the years the price will at least even out, and the environmental benefits are huge.

They're a bit tricky to get the hang of at first (I recommend trying with some lube before using for real - I didn't and wish I had) and the stem irritated me so much I had to cut it off. Also, for me, placing it needs me to have a foot up on the edge of the bath.

But once I had got used to all those, I found it was much more comfortable than traditional products, and it holds a lot more so there's less changing.

There's a website that helps pick which type might be most suitable, can't remember it now but sure Google could find it!

Oh, and one last thing - don't be alarmed by the size! Yes, they look huge at first, but that's because the nearest comparable is a fresh tampon!!!
