    I've just got to check as I'm fed up with using words that don't contain apostrophes.

    Seems like success.

    Tried the iPad "fix".

    Let's see if it's fixed.

    Edit: It is.

    It's my belief that the forum software is changing the leading & and # of HTML entities for unicode characters (smart quotes, emojis, and most non-ASCII characters) into actual exclamation marks, which are seen, together with the numeric part of the entity, and closing semicolon, by everyone, in all browsers.
    As a test, can anyone see a heart here? >!!!9829;< I can't, even in code view.

    This is exactly what is happening. This is not a client problem. It!!!8217;s a bug in the forum software.
  • Just a test with the quick reply to see if it’s fixed.
  • Interesting. It may be partially fixed. It wasn’t when I posted earlier today.

    Here!!!8217;s another test from iPhone to see if it!!!8217;s fixed
    What!!!8217;ll happen when I edit

    Note: it!!!8217;s when I come back and edit a post that it falls over
  • Well it!!!8217;s definitely hit and miss. Like the poster above I!!!8217;ve noticed it come back when editing and I!!!8217;m still seeing the bug with quick reply on other parts of the forum even though my previous post in this thread worked.

    Come on MSE. We're approaching two months of having this ridiculous bug. Switching off Unicode support might have been a decent short-term workaround to your spam problems, but it's time to find a real solution to that and let us use Unicode again. !!!55357;!!!56864;
