I phoned to cancel and the operator was OK. However I did ask if this could be confirmed in   writing and the answer was no. I will get all the standard nagging reminders right up to and after the date of renewal. Glad I asked
  • I have just cancelled my renewal, it it the only thing it won't let you do online but that is probably par for the course.
Nothing to see here, move along.

I have had no repercussions from cancelling. I wouldn't use them again.

Wish I looked at these reviews before I bought Insurance
I had a leak under my bath which went through to  my dining room
I very rarely use this room so I dont know how long It had been leaking
I called out a plumber and paid him to fix the problem
When I tried to make a claim I was told Its classed as
"Escape of water excess" so the excess was £550
I was told the water coming through the ceiling would dry out and as there was  damage to walls and floor It would be cheaper to pay for the repairs out of my own pocket
BTW the reviews on Trust Pilot are 4.7 / 5 no one has made any claims though, so good luck to them If you need to make one

  • POLICY EXPERT / QMetric group ltd - Avoid this company at all cost!
I was a trusted customer of buildings and contents insurance for 6 years .... until I had to make a claim!
In October, We were burgled whilst away visiting my sister with cancer by a youth and my wife lost all her jewellery only to be told we were UNDER INSURED I.e we had too many valuables (many pieces were her Late mothers jewellery she had left to pass down to our children needless to say no value put to them purely sentimental ) so they not only VOIDED my policy but also refuse to pay us a penny. I am now black listed and can’t get insurance because this company voided my policy. Absolutely shocking POLICY EXPERT a trading name of QMetric group ltd are not to be trusted. They overvalued our lost belongings ridiculously high and unrealistically, please please safe guard yourself snd use a different insurer. I have now taken my case to the Ombudsman but am trying to warn as many people as possible DO NOT USE POLICY EXPERT / QMETRIC GROUP LTD I believe what they have done is use a loophole to rip off customers

I'm struggling to see what they did wrong.  You failed to notify the insurer of a key risk and didn't insure for that risk.  They only void the policy if they would never have offered it in the first place if you didn't tell them the correct information.
You accuse them of not being trustworthy but in reality, it appears it was you that was not truthful with the insurer.
As with any dispute with an insurer, you have the right to complain and access the FOS as an independent arbiter of complaints.   Assuming you have done that, as you have created a forum account and made two negative posts about them, what was the decision of the FOS?  Have you got the DRN as the FOS publish all decisions made by an ombudsman?   That will give us a view of the independent assessment of your complaint.     Rather than a one sided rant which seems to put you at fault rather than the insurer. Which I am sure was not your intention.

  • Avoid like the plague.  They have just cancelled my buildings policy with no notice at 12 noon on Christmas Eve, just because I asked for a quote to add a granny annexe onto the policy.  Leaves me with no insurance over Christmas

Does the granny annexe already exist or were you thinking of building one?

Again, this is not a problem with them.  Many mainstream policies will not cover an annexe and require you to use more specialist insurers.
The timing is purely down to you . not them.  They didn't build the annexe.

  • Do Not Buy Home Emergency Plus from Policy Expert
I had water coming through my ,living room ceiling and rang at 645 am to report this I had to ring again at 945 am 11 am  and 1245 pm
Long story short eventually a Drainage Engineer attended but said he couldn't do anything because I needed a plumber. I was told a plumber would come, no plumber came and I was eventually told that the leak was not covered. I had to phone my own plumber at a significant cost as you can imagine on a Saturday afternoon who found the leak and repaired it with in an hour so in summary my Emergency Plus cover took a total of 8 hrs to finally be told that you could not do anything complete waste of time and money and i will NOT be renewing this policy nor would I recommend it to anyone this out
