I am currently having major problems with this company Policy Direct and the claim company in cahoots with Policy Direct is Trinity Claims regarding Storm Damage, my advice is to stay clear sorry 1

Absolute joke, Policy Expert and Trinity claims should be ashamed of themselves. I took out a home insurance policy after seeing an advert, however when it came to making a NON FAULT CLAIM I was treated as though I was at fault by Trinity claims and their contractor Westone Housing Ltd of Peterborough (who frankly were as incompetent as it gets). There is a lot of detail as to why Trinity Claims are a joke however, after going back and forth for months I approached the third parties insurer NIG who immediately went about resolving the issue and luckily settled within 2 weeks. Warning AVOID Policy Expert, Trinity Claims and Westone Housing Ltd of Peterborough at all costs.0

I tried claiming with Policy Expert / Trinity Claims on my Home Emergency Cover and it was a disaster! As others have said, they are cheap and fine, until you want to claim. In my time of need for help, they spent an hour interrogating me with reasons why they shouldn't pay. Their reasoning was just rubbish. It didn't matter what I said, they were never going to pay. Horrible. AVOID!!0

Rang them in a panic as I had water coming through the ceiling from behind the upstairs toilet. Spent an hour on the phone to find out that all home emergency would do was turn the stop tap off, I had already done that obviously but the water continued pouring through. They said they would get someone out to assess the damage to floor, ceiling etc but the excess was £700 for escape of water! They refused to offer any insurance assistance with locating the leak and stopping it so basically the damage was getting worse as time went on. After wasting an hour on the phone, and the damage getting worse in the meantime, I hung up. Ended up having to remove the toilet and isolating the leak myself. Seriously do not trust Policy Expert/Trinity Claims, you would be just as well being uninsured as having a policy from them.0

How I wish I had read these threads last year - 6 wees and counting ,lots of calls no response and the excuses begger belief - saying they have thousands of claims due to bad weather - still waiting for survey report - and in the meantime your problem gets worse. Classic was a small plant in the Chimney caused major damp 60 feet away from the chimney and was likely a maintenance issue.
Avoid like the plague and I would suggest to anyone with them to cancel and get a new policy from anywhere else and report them to the Ombudsman.0 -

Claiming from this Company seems to be the problem for everyone to the extent that you are not actually insured as everything goes to complaint and then Ombudsman. Its difficult to see how theyget their ratings. However you may wish to know that Policy Expert are actually run by a Company called
Qmetric Group Holdings Limited who also own TrinityM Limited and in effect are running as an integrated Company with Trinity being the Claims handlers. You will note that the same Directors are on each Company and Trnity Class B shares are owned by Qmetric who also have significant control of Policy Expert. There is more but perhaps not so much space on this thread. All of this is legal however for the last few years it seems that there are quite an inordinate anount of customers stating that itis quite an issue with both Communications and the insinuating manner of the claims team with questioning of customers to find escape clauses to avoid dealing with claims. I would suggest that if a person has a Complaint they also copy all the reviews available and send these to the Ombudsman to show the consistancy of what they are doing.

Policy Expert were the cause of a complete nightmare for us. We moved into an old house and took out a cheap policy with them online before we completed. 9 months later a wall collapsed at the end of the garden in a storm and fell into a river causing some flooding.
Policy Expert and Trinity demanded our survey and then picked holes in it saying we had filled it our online form incorrectly. They had no intention of paying out. They cancelled our policy and left us with a bill for £20k. And now because we've had a policy cancelled on us our premiums have gone up to £700 a year.
When we were trying to find independant loss adjusters after the incident they all refused to work with Policy Expert cases. One even referred to them as 'criminals within the law.' Their small print is really tight and basically absolved them from any real responsibility. The CEOs attitude seems to be that if you buy cheap insurance then you shouldn't expect to be worth anything. Yet that's what he's selling. What a ****.
It makes me really angry that they're still trading and also that they have gamed the Trust Pilot reviews by getting customers to review them after they purchase rather than when they have to claim.
If you check the 1 star reviews you will see they are littered with horrendous stories just like in this thread.1 -
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
They are full of excuses on how you are at fault for storm damage. Not a nice experience and will never use them again and highly recommend no-one else to either0 -
I have been with them for several years but after reading the 1 star reviews on Trust Pilot then actually looking at the T&C's in detail on my renewal I cancelled my renewal as it was within the 14 days....
i guess the old saying rings true here.... " You only get what you pay for"..... Yes policy expert are cheap but you need to delve into the policy before you buy to make sure you are completely satisfied with what's on offer....I must, I must, get my post average up to 1 a day!!0
