Thanks EH and CMD. They are good kids even when they drive me mad.... So far DD is coping with sixth form. DD is considering dumping the course she has a 4 week trial for as it isn't leaving enough free space on her timetable and already increasing the pressure. She also enjoyed the first lesson of her fourth subject (potential replacement). Of course, she only says this after I've bought all the books.... Makes me doubly glad I bought some second-hand. ;) May be able to re-sell them... Will see how it goes. She has therefore said - don't bother with tutor or online course yet... she will try the free online versions and see how she gets on with that - so may end up paying more to CC after all.:) She does need about £20 of other books that weren't on the original booklist! Don't you just love 'em!

Looks like we are only going to manage a trial bike journey with her over the weekend so will have to take her again. It is adding at least 40 minute round trip beginning and end of the day. Work is really busy currently - need to try and find ways of working smarter. Did manage to delegate some stuff - a lot still on my plate.

Have sorted out DS's lease - he isn't liable for the £110 one - now have an email confirming that so can just focus on the £70 one. DH has to send photo ID as guarantor to a uni (rather than private landlord) - I then need to pay the bill when I get paid at the end of next week. Such a relief.

So - decided to pay another £250 off CC5 - meaning I've brought it down from £1300 to £530 this month (£780 paid) so far. Still hoping if stay on track to squeeze another payment out towards the end of next week. Kept a buffer still for unexpected costs.

Decided to fund DS's ticket (£12) to his paid employment on Saturday as won't be paid immediately and he's been helpful at home without complaining this week (and best of all he didn't ask). DH thinks I'm soft... true but the chilli he just made us was a) lovely and b) not cooked by me and c) therefore worth its weight.... in.... not quite gold but you know... something...

Had a food delivery tonight so hoping can last until payday without unplanned spends...we'll see.

  • That's amazing you've been able to pay another £250 off. I am itching to pay more off my loan but want to see how the rest of the month pans out!

Thanks Doingitmyway CMD and Tahlullah. After I posted - realised I'd paid off over £10.1K since 13/7 (for those not following earlier we sold a motorbike and had a big ppi win that helped that figure). Feels surreal. Need to remind myself of that - every time I don't feel we paid off enough... We are living in a miracle - that would otherwise have take months and months extra. I get paid a week today - 2 days early due to the true date falling over the weekend.

    Have a good day y'all!

£co confirmed my cashback from our holiday today - so withdrawing £36.02 to primarni for DD's clothing allowance in mid Sept. It all helps... Long day today - started early. Frustrated as got all the way to school only for DD to say she was too ill to go in. She was very pale and looks much better now for some sleep and a bit of medication.

So glad it is the weekend but need to fit some work in at some point. Probably having leftover chilli with jacket spud for tea. DS is working tomorrow. DD has a friend over. Not sure what I/me and DH will do. Right now just want a duvet day... Hope you all have something fab planned...

  • You are making inroads with your debts, they are going down!

Look around for books for DD, I've saved a fortune buying mine and when I was studying/qualifying in my former career. Hope she feels better soon.

Chilli and jacket spud, I'm envious! Can't remember when I last had a lovely crispy jacket spud; my fave is cooking them, slicing in half and scooping the insides out, mixing in cheese and onion, filling the spud back up with the spud/cheese/onion mix, extra cheese on the top then back in the oven until the cheese melts.....

Hope you find time for your duvet day, they are needed occasionally x

Thank Moving Forward. You made me want your kind of spud - I love that too - a Delia recipe... with sour cream...

Decided to splurge on a second weekend away while we have DS to look after DD. So the weekend after next we are using Mr T vouchers to have a 2 night stay away - once converted it gave us £88.50 in vouchers so less than £100 left to pay - for a mini cottage with a super-king size bed. Pleased with that. Rural and near the sea. Kids get to enjoy some peace from parents so I'm sure they see it as a mini-holiday too... At the end of September DS is back at uni and the option for him to look after DD for us is more limited.

Does mean that I have only about £3 of unaccounted for cash between now and payday next Friday so will need to be super good but it is for a good cause. Remembered that the windscreen people are coming at some point to do my car tomorrow - so can't go anywhere until that is sorted...
