Thanks HSL.
Glad we didn't give in last night. I said to DH after the salesman left that we had previously agreed to save for new work rather than get fresh debt. With DD due to move out, we could move to the country too so potentially investing in a house we are leaving.
Then there's the little thing of I need to be in a better place MH wise before making big decisions...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well done for not giving in...some salesmen can be very persistent. The double glazing loans that I’ve had have had a shockingly high APR which means I’ve probably paid for the windows twice over by now!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Hi HSL. Sorry to hear that.
We were offered 2 years interest free. It was "affordable". We are just trying to set new standards for ourselves so we don't spend our whole lives in debt. It's a muscle we need to build and exercise - especially for 'wants'.
I said no to getting quotes a couple of months ago so we wouldn't face this temptation but DH agreed to get quote while I was out with DD.
At least we have a ballpark figure for new front window, new front door, back door and converting kitchen bay window to French doors and side panels.
I literally phoned my sis for an out on the high pressure selling... It worked. Crazy that I needed to but followed the advice I gave son earlier in the year for managing financial temptations... It worked!! Who knew LOL!!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Being home again is going okay so far. The feelings of being overwhelmed and on edge have dissipated. The cause hasn't gone away though. Still in a limbo. Work are being supportive which is helping.
Still a ways to go.... Need to shower, get dressed, go outside... Just the things most people take for granted...
My friend was appreciative of some treats I left her - so literally have an open door there if I need one which helps.... Photo from walk near her home with cows in the distance. Some of the flower stalks were taller than me

Would those changes increase the value of your house, if you sold? If it's only adding a couple of k and covering the costs, personally I wouldn't. Obviously if you're staying and the changes improve the use of your house then they become invaluable, but can wait a year or two as everything settles.
That view is nice, looks like a good place to lose yourself and be at one with nature.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5 -

I read something earlier today about sometimes we need to rest and sometimes we need peace. A bolthole definitely sounds like a good idea."Think of many things, do one"
