Everything going on is dampening the usual December spirit, adding tiredness and lots of other things will add to how you feel. Things will get better and there's a lot of positively too like how much you're done to your house, the debts are still going down and now you're on holiday!
Rest, sleep and it will all work out in the end.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2 -
Thanks HSL and Lucielle. Neighbours on Skye - that would definitely be something. Beautiful place - although I have only been around 3 times I think. What the medical situation like up there - Lucielle?
I've paid a token £16 OP to my mortgage - just to feel like I am making some progress. For whatever reason - probably not helped by negative news - I seem to have crashed this week and feel very flat. The constant rain isn't helping either - and although I tried to go to bed early it was 4.30am before I got to sleep. DD got very upset over the pressures of sixth form yesterday - which didn't help how I felt either. It is heart-breaking when your kids are older and they are upset and there is little you can do to change things for them.
I am trying to do a diet reset day today. I am eating strawberries, bananas, apple and pineapple for a belated breakfast and am in the process of making a huge pan of veg soup. Hopefully if I can get my eating under control - I will have fresh energy. I have another delivery coming Tuesday - so am contemplating swapping some of the previous options for healthier ones!! I did buy some acrylic painting pens and flat canvas boards a while ago - so may get those out and have a play later.
I also need to radically declutter but that seems never ending. I still need to do the tax reclaim. I asked DD to group all my papers in plastic wallets a few weeks ago - and I went through most of them yesterday and halved their contents. Just got two plastic wallets left to sort through - pensions and some other financial stuff. At some point over the holidays I will do a search for other papers as I think I have another couple of baskets of papers in the garage. DH has a filing cabinet - so will give him the two box files of wallets left after yesterday's cull - to store.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I always feel better after a good declutter. There is something satisfying about it.4

Not long now until DD has finished for good.
Maybe add some health options to your delivery, do healthy breakfasts and ease yourself into healthier eating.
Good luck with the de-cluttering, I know it's hard for you.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -
Not sure TBH. They have a hospital at Broadford but I think if its major you have to go to Inverness.

Thanks Relieved Sheff, MF and Lucielle.
Well the home made soup was a hit - leek, potatoes, onions, carrot, butternut squash, tin of tomatoes and then nutmeg, allspice, salt, stock cubes etc and squirt of honey and tomato sauce. Came out okay. Packed and unpacked the dishwasher. It's been raining all day and is pitch black already. Shortest day soon which will help bring back the light. Still not finished xmas decorating. May do some more in the light tomorrow. DH has got a headache and his knee still hurts from weeks if not months ago. DD doing a bit better today but clingy at times. No sign of DS at all LOL. Wonder if he's even awake!!!

SavingH - don't underestimate how hard this year has been on all of us. No wonder you are feeling tired and can't sleep. Try and be kinder to yourself. Everything will get done in its own good time.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hi Savings. Sometimes, life throws us a curve ball, and this year is it for you and many people. You are doing fine considering you weren't planning on playing hard ball with anyone. You are here, you are still supporting yourself and your family and you are making progress on your plans. Be positive about the differences you have made despite the circumstances. And just think of what you could achieve all things being equal! Rest, relax and get ready for another year! You are doing fine. What I do not give, you must never take by force.

You've made so much progress this year. I hope you manage to have a good rest now. I'm with you on trying to eat a bit more healthily x"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3

Thanks jwil. I am struggling to sleep since I finished work. Bought DD iPad she had £380 of her own money and now owes us the rest. She is very excited about it. Hopefully a few hundred pounds will come her way from us and relatives and she will either repay the rest from future earnings or from selling her laptop or from her CTFund in May.
Turned out DH's voucher to wasn't Am and could be used at Arg** as could mine so did that as Cur*** was out of stock. Our £300 vouchers made it easier to buy as it required less cash. We were due to give her £66 cash plus wrap ups anyway. Some family giving her cash too. So hopefully will get some of the money back quite quickly. When she returns the money we will pay it straight off debt.
My sleep is totally messed up not helped by chaos around Xmas. Currently hoping to meet family still but who knows. I have a small frozen turkey in case we get stopped from travelling. TBF some family members have organised tests before meeting up.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
