Hi Mark, DIA, MF and CMD - Decided to delay valuation given latest lockdown. DH and I are both clinically vulnerable so think will delay until spring which fits better with moving around when DD finishes 6th form. Will try and focus on repaying debt. Hopeful cleaner will still come as that's allowed and that patio gets done. Gives us longer to make and enjoy gradual improvements. DD has her last pub shift Wednesday - they can't pay her furlough as she only joined August - so she's jacked them. She has an interview for an office job by phone next week though - so really hoping she gets that as it would be double the pay - and once she's trained she can do it from home. DS would still like to travel to co-working space if it's open...
Doing a lot better on grocery and paying things immediately rather than reaching for CC. I've set a Xmas budget - and I think it may be easier to stick to if we don't see people... I've also been delaying purchasing stuff to avoid risk of buying too much.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I love your logic of delaying buying stuff. I haven't and now, I have enough to feed the multitude! Should be eating Christmas food in February by the look of it!What I do not give, you must never take by force.

You have a resolution to your quandary, although it was taken out of your hands, it's allowing you to focus energy on finishing the house off.
Fingers crossed for DD and hopefully DS's place will still be open, even if it's scaled down on occupancy.
Well done on cutting back, I know it wouldn't have been easy.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
I think delaying it until next Spring is the sensible decision. It also allows you to pay off some more of your debt which can only be a good thing!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Glad that you've made a decision on the house move albeit the lockdown takes it out of your hands. As others say, you can keep working on the house and paying down debts. I was going to glibly say that the time will pass very quickly but at the moment who knows how the next few months will pan out. The main thing is for you and the family to stay safe and well.2

Can you sell any of your glass and paintings? With the run up to Christmas I imagine a lot of purchases will be made on-line. It could go towards debt or the patio

Thanks CMD, Blackcats and Lucielle. Lucielle - you are right - I should definitely try and sell some stuff. I will see if DS can help me as he's in a bit of a lull.
Paid £75 off a CC
Paid £62 off target CC
Paid £211 off spending CC which clears last month's bill plus some of this. Working towards not using this anymore - but I had some pre-set up payments from it....
Some progress at least.
For whatever reason - not helped by my weight - feeling exhausted currently. DH is on earlies this week. DS has said he will collect his stuff but stop going to co-working space for now as he doesn't want to bring the virus home. I wish the sixth form would move to online lessons - although DD hates them.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well another day another dollar as they say. Grateful our incomes aren't affected. Ironically DH has to go in every day this week to work - hoping after that it will be 2 days or less. I have a list of about 25 things I want to get done but not getting through any of them currently. Binge watching Gr3ys though... Soothing - mostlyAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I input our meter readings today - we are under-using gas but over using elec. Our recent water bill was £17 higher a month! Really need to do the WFH tax reclaim. DS is considering trying to get PIP - if he succeeds may have a go for me and DD.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I applied for the working from home tax reclaim last week. It was dead easy took a couple of minutes to fill in the form and I had an acknowledgement from HMRC that is had been approved within 24 hours. It isn't a massive amount but every little helps I suppose and I would rather have the money in my pocket than theirs!4
