I haven't managed to catch up with your diary for a while, but it definitely sounds like you've been busy! Good luck with getting everything ready for your house going on the market. When we sold last time we hired a self store unit (it was a tiny flat and we had two households worth of stuff). To be honest some of the things we boxed up are still boxed up 7 years later so doing a big declutter would have been a good move beforehand, but it did take the pressure off. Anyway I hope everything comes together for youMortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30003

Hi all. Thanks so for posting. I keep finding houses I like but it is a fast moving market so they keep going. I painted a fence panel I had missed today but other than that relaxed. DH took some stuff to the tip yesterday but plenty moreto go!
I think we are going to treat next week's valuation as a guide to what still needs to be done rather than immediately putting it on the market. Struggling to find decorators one said booked until January! I got a little overwhelmed yesterday so think I need to give myself time and not try to do everything at once - especially if expert help is hard to come by. One of our neighbours is struggling money wise - may see if he has any interest in decorating.
Being outside today reinforced that we need to solve the back garden. It just seems messy and unmanageable currently not helped by our dog!! So I have contacted our friends to see when they could fit us in.
I am still struggling with decluttering our bedroom which is a must before Saturday. Need to do more painting too. DH made tea but he is struggling MH-wise at the moment so he just wants to buy help in for other jobs in our homeAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi SavingH,
Finally caught up on your diary. My goodness you have been busy! I don't quite know where to start. LOL.
So exciting re: the house move but totally understand how overwhelming it must be. I studied interior design for a year a few years ago and am happy to lend an objective eye if you need it. I also staged a previous properly and it went for over the asking price and sold quickly!

I do understand DH's desire to buy in. To be fair, it is the same as my need for a cleaner. Of course I can do it myself, but I can't face it. So it's easier to get someone in. I could have cleaned the house a million times - ok I exaggerate - but just wasn't there in my head. I hope he is ok and you can get the decorating / other work done before January. What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Thanks Tahlullah and CMD. I lost a post somewhere.
Paid £129 off debt and the Swedish place refunded £302. It all helps. DD and I decluttered some of my bedroom and we did 3 bin bags and 4 charity bags. Loads left to do. Bought a load of cable tidying equipment. Feeling like a grown up LOL.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

If you can find a way to save money in one place, that can help fund the paid help and satisfy your want to keep costs down and DHs want to get it done.
Refunds are good!
Well done on sorting out that much stuff, hopefully another clear out can be faced soon.

Having major computing problems today for work so popping in here. Been paid £500 back pay and plan to put it towards new patio. I have put our valuation back 3 weeks as just not ready. Loads of DIY jobs and decluttering still to do. DH did replace internal cat flap yesterday and the main bathroom locks again for the first time in years after he fitted new lockable handle.
Still to do
Touch up paint in kitchen and utility including painting inside one door that was missed
Buy tile paint and touch up
Put up 3 new mirrors
Re lay 2 flags that rock
Move furniture around / stage
Tidy cables
Deep clean
More painting if get chance
Buy and fit some other wardrobe handles where missing
Sort light problem in ensuite
Change light fitting in DD's room
