Hope today went well and you got your long lunch break or early finish. Well done on the dog walk!
My work recently asked who wanted to go back to the office and who was happy to stay at home. I think there is a pretty good mix of both so hopefully it's the same your way. I'm hoping long term for 3 days at home and 2 in the office."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hi Jwil that would suit me too. I already had a regular work from home day before - and am seen as one of the more productive workers so hopefully something like that will work out. Today I did finish early. I ate lettuce and radish from our garden - with some tinned salmon for lunch. The fence paint arrived so DD and I have done 5.5 panels between us. It was slow going so my £5 rate to her suddenly felt about right LOL. I need to buy more fence paint but it is currently sold out so hope I manage to get some more at some point. DS submitted his work on time - but only after I spent 3 hours reading and editing it! I've walked the dog with DH and then again with DD so feeling both tired and very virtuous.
DD's new phone came today and she was thrilled. I've asked DH to cancel her old contract and get the puk code - but he hasn't yet. Can't push him too much as he worked 13 hour day today. DH did move one of the cupboards in the garage for me. I now need to move some of the stuff out of the unit so DH and DS can move it when DH Comes back from work. I'm off to see if I can sleep.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

That's what I'm hoping too, 2 in 3 at home.
Have you looked at $cr3w f1x for your fence paint? Getting as much done between the two of you was good going. DD is getting into earning for her tasks, hopefully when she gets a little more confident doing things she will speed up, either that or she is very canny 😁
Phew, I'm glad DS got his work in, with your help, that's one less stress. The phone transfer and everything else will fall into place soon.
Hope you managed to get some sleep.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5 -
Glad dd likes her new phone and she is helping you lots with the fencing, be careful you don't overdo it!
Brilliant that ds got his work in on time, that's a long time for you to check it over - I hope he made you copious amounts of tea.
Hope you managed to get a good night's sleep, H x

Thanks MF - good suggestion re paint but they are out of stock. W1ck3s about 10 miles have some so think I may go tomorrow as I've booked a couple of half days off this week to make the most of the good weather. I may bob into see a friend in her garden if she is free.
Hi HM - With DS's work - it was worth $5-7.5K!!! so wanted to do all I could to help him. If he does well there could be similar well paid work to come - I might even try and follow him into that line of work if it truly ends up being that lucrative. I'm a natural cynic - so I'll believe it when the money comes through but if it does it will be life changing for him and should help him clear most if not all of his non-student loan debt. I am so proud of him for having the courage to pursue his dreams and working really hard to make this happen. This particular piece of work - he started the contacts for when he went to Oz 2 years ago and has been reading all he can on it since, doing courses and watching vlogs etc. It sound legit - I just don't want to pick up the pieces if for any reason it's not. Either way it's been a great learning experience for him, just hope the money comes through okay too. I think what I admire most about DS currently is his bias for taking action - Ie not stalling like I feel I currently am...
The pension transfer company have been back in touch. They have collated some initial data and want me to fill in a load of forms and then have a phone interview with DH and I next Tuesday so things are progressing there. Hoping that works out but either way because they are giving me a report I should understand more about what's going on and why they recommend whatever they do and hopefully how to improve our pension provision in general.
I still need to finish my furniture shuffle to make room for the new chairs. DH is currently still at work and DS is out so limited on what I can do without them. DD is keen to continue painting the fence with help from me but very hot out.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well miracle of miracles we managed to get the tall unit into the space in the garage (undamaged) and I managed to get all the shelves back on. I now need to gradually move all the stuff that was on it into the garage too as part of creating room for the 2 new chairs (and desk) and temp storage in the garage of our old chairs from Thursday. With the change in temperature today - I am now sweating cobs and am just taking a breather. I can't be long though as DH put a load of stuff outside the garage that I need to get back inside after the shuffle of the various units. I think I had better get filling charity bags and declutter!!
At least in the move around I came across some nice cards that I can use for birthdays.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well last night I went through every drawer of a unit that was already in the garage. I also went through about 6 crate and bags of stuff. I found a load of towels so they went in the wash. I created a crate of stuff for sis (added to a huge bag of books I sorted for her the other day), a crate for charity and half a bin bag. Hopefully I can see her soon and drop them off. Trying to get more ruthless but still a struggle. I want to reduce our house contents by about 30%! We have way too much stuff and it makes it a less enjoyable space. DD has had some success selling on V1nt3d. I may ask her to sell some of the tat lying around the place too but I think the priority is to get as much stuff as poss out the house as quickly as poss before I change my mind.

Boiling here today. I saw my friend and we sat under her large parasol in the garden so that was nice. I nipped to a W1ck3s but despite their website saying they had some they didn't have the fence paint I want. I did buy a different paint for indoors but DS didn't like it so now really unsure. It was well socially distanced though and there were no queues until I got to the till. In better news did managed to get the sand DH wanted so he can hopefully make progress with the metal shed. Potentially still need flags though unless he just raises the existing ones and puts hardcore and sand underneath.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
