Your garden is doing what you want it to, produce edible items.
DS sounds like he has landed on his feet and will adjust to his meds. I don't blame you for paying the family to pitch in and do some housework, it all helps.
Everything is still crossed for the IFA to come through for you and I'm not surprised you have taken a breather from your book.
Everything will come together!Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Thanks MFD and MF. DD woke early so I came down to clear kitchen counters which was a blessing. She did a little more during the day but our hoover is playing up so I am washing the filters in case they are the problem.
Well today I cashed out just over £42 from £co and DH has £95 ready to cash out. Plan to put it towards the patio. £137/2000. Rest still to find. We've emailed the patio guy to say we want to go ahead a couple of days ago but not heard anything. No news yet on whether we have to pay DS's uni accommodation. Hoping no news is good news there and that we are able to put the £933 towards the patio instead. Also now DS is earning - may leave him to pay it / part of it / start charging him board. He is due to submit his first invoice for payment at the start of next week and hopes to be paid straightaway. Still need to pick up the rest of his stuff from his accommodation. He spent most of his student loan on the ADHD assessment and meds or I would already be charging him. No news yet on the chairs delivery for the lounge either. Frustrating. Originally due at the end of April but really unclear when they will come now. Unfortunately I keep re-spending the money I set aside for them.
I asked my boss how safe my job was this week and she was reassuring. I am unlikely to have to go in the office for a considerable period to come so those fuel savings will continue to help the budget. DH has been working throughout. His organisation is doing okay and is starting to take some people off furlough which sounds promising. Today I emptied out 2 bags of bark along the back path in the garden - and a 3rd next to a bench we are sitting on to the side of the garden. I have one bag left but will need more... I watered the tomatoes, cucumbers and strawberries but left the rest for today as I have a tendency to over rather than under water. DH seems to have lost his gardening mojo. I want him to finish clearing out our old pond so we can set it up again. I've asked him to measure the pond area so we can order new liner. I am hoping that we can have a post lockdown garden reveal to friends and relatives at some point! It really is being nursed back to better than its former glory.

Well having gained weight earlier in the week - I've lost 3lb since Monday just by cutting back so really happy with that. I feel I am getting my head more in the game work wise so that's also cheering me up. The garden is looking better every day.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Everything seems to be going your way, steps forward and back, but you are moving forward! Glad you are getting your head round to work, it will be easier when fully back into the game.
Enjoy the garden and good luck with the patio financing. What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Thanks Tahlullah.
I spent a little time just sunbathing while listening to a book today which was nice. DD and DH decided to declutter the garage. I have 3 or more bags of stuff i need to go through and potentially burn unless I have the energy to put it through a shredder! I was scammed on fleabay today but they caught it and hopefully P@yp@l are returning my £ so should be okay. DS bid for some additional freelance work and has met the initial criteria so is in with a chance of earning $5K!! Will be amazing if he pulls it off. I had a chat with him yesterday about him potentially paying board and lodgings now he's earning depending on how things go. His initial income this month is swallowed by his debt but I've suggested a glide path amount ie start with food and build up from there. I am seeing this as more of a month 2 of income thing - and dependent on whether he ends up with a uni accomm bill or they write it off. He thinks he could recharge some of his board and lodging cost to his business so was reasonably chilled.
Life feels surreal at the moment. Everyone home. DD has started going out - and has seen 2 friends socially distanced but is now exhausted again. DD is definitely not returning to 6th form before Sept - the school have said they could only accommodate about 40-50 kids from year 10 and year 12 anyway. DS and DH are making plans to meet others socially distanced. The only people I'm interested in meeting are currently shielding so it all feels weird. We've also heard from medical friends that they are preparing for the 2nd w@v3 so that doesn't encourage me to go out. I think it has been easier to cope with this surreal life in good weather but worry if this hangs around through winter and into next year. I've been looking online for some nice summer clothes but nothing much there - and still not sorted my parasol birthday present. I've ended up ordering a couple of dresses from Am**** and if they feel nice on - may buy them in other colours too. My stress response tends to be to spend £ so need to be careful - however we do have a nominated pot for clothing 'allowance'.
I am listening to an interesting kids book that was on offer today - nowhere emporium. I'm about halfway through but love the writing style and the narrator.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Burning is quicker and the cooled ash can be added to your veg beds.
That's good news about your job and being able to continue working from home.
DS was always going to find a way of working, it's in his nature and I've everything crossed he secures the new bid.
DD meeting up with friends is good, I didn't think she would for a while yet. Hopefully she will feel better in a few days. Maybe she should meet up for a shorter time and build up a little bit each time, rather than push herself to stay out.
I'm sure you will find some lovely summer clothes and quite possibly where you would never even think to look!
I hope you have a relaxing day today.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2 -
All sounding good at yours. You seem very aware of your spending so I'm sure you won't stress-spend.

Thanks MF and DIA - it is always good to have cheerleaders.
It's been roasting today! I have planted out some swiss chard, marigolds, carrots, celery and more leek. I've topped up my potatoes and given my veg plot a water. I am thinking of moving some of my potted veg away from by my house as it doesn't get enough sun there. The patio guy is due to call us tomorrow so hopefully we will then find out more about when he is likely to be able to do the job. I've planted some aquilegia seeds indoors as well as some perpetual spinach and some stripey tomato seeds. I seem to have killed at least 3 of the plug plants I bought - possibly by over-watering.
A house on our estate sold recently for £250K and we are in a cul-de-sac and have done more to our home -so hope long term that ours will be worth more. Some closer neighbours are putting their house on the market so will be interesting to see what happens with theirs although we will be sad to see them go (assuming they manage to sell).
I have spent a lot of today reading which was nice. Just been out for a short walk with pooch and DH. DD got DH to go out on a bike ride earlier so that was good and gave me a little peace. Back to work (from home) tomorrow. Our cleaner still hasn't been (don't blame her) and DD only did one room and stopped. Need her to carry on. She's already ordered clothes she wants with the money she was due to earn!!!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

All your planting sounds productive. When you have homegrown leeks, you won't want shop ones again!
The neighbours will sell as if it's anything like yours sounds, its a proper family home and step up the ladder. You've got a few years to make your move and meet your plans.
Perhaps DDs task should be broken down and told about working a week or month in hand before getting paid! So her 'paydate' falls inline with yours a DHs 😁Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3
