Thanks all - I managed to get a click and collect for next Sunday - so may then move the Morries box.
Well I cheated a bit after midnight - but my weight still fell and my bp was 132/68 with 70 pulse, DH's was 130/74 with a 68 pulse. His sugar is also falling which is a relief. I am starting to think diet organisations are testing the wrong thing when they focus purely on weight but also wonder whether it would give them unwanted results - particularly for sugars.

However, the 'kids' will be doing a traditional Easter egg hunt later but I have scaled back the amount. It feels weird as most of my married life we''ve gone to my parents on Easter Sunday - and my youngest sister with her brood of 3 is normally there with BIL and sometimes another sister. Very strange. I also didn't think to put lamb on our last order so it will be one of the first years not eating that either. When we had MIL and BIL over on Mother's Day though we had lamb and I remember praying htat this would be our passover meal and that this plague would pass over us. I still pray it does. I am aware of one person in our wider circle who didn't make it but another who caught it from his DD who survived it without hospitalisation despite previous battles with pneumonia. Rather than maudlin, I want to celebrate today my Christian faith - and am grateful that our family and wider family are still here.

I think the worst thing was when the medical world moved on to BMI as a way of measuring health.

Can't comment on diabetes as it's not something I've had knowledge of since I was a kid (my nan had it). It's going to be a combination of things, add the wrong combination and it's not good, the right combination and it's fine. All of you need to find the right combination for each of you, perhaps encourage everyone to keep a diary of what they eat / drink, what is done throughout the day and the measurements you are doing. When you have a consistent pattern of what's working for each of you, then follow that.

I've always had high BP, but I freely admit to being a stress-head.

I'm glad the kids are getting an Easter egg hunt, it will do them good to have a rummage around and some laughs.

Whilst today will be a different lunch, it will still be a special day. You can call / video call the family and say prayers together. Look at z@@m or other applications for a wider video conference. Plan a family gathering for the future.

So far I've lost one friend, another friend has lost their son within the space of 72 hours, both in the USA. My friends over here seem to be winning their battles and are recovering.

My thoughts are with everyone during this time.

Sorry to hear your news MF.

I'm off to shower and change - a major achievement given we are all staying home. Then need to clear the table in the kitchen and make a bit of an effort for the kids. Later want to do a bit more in the garden. Currently listening to last night of the pr0ms on utube. Kids still not up. Glad I prepared food yesterday. DH has ordered another shed to go at the bottom of the garden. He wants to make the main shed a usable wood working space ideally so he has a hobby / place of escape in this weird time.

well done in the garden SH - yes it is hard work, but you will have the benefits all summer.  even when all the lockdown is finished, it will be a nicer place to sit and enjoy and be MSE.

Although gardens always demand something to be done, so will be good for your fitness levels as well

Well I managed to dislodge some granite mats on my foot preparing for dinner - but I don't think anything was broken - but I was scared for a while. I just watched Phoebe in Wonderland on Pr1me- it was awesome. Very good for anyone with more 'unusual' children or who feels rather like Alice at times themselves..

Well it looks like I escaped without breaking my toes as they seem okay now. This evening I have played with soil/mud. I went on a strawberry plant hunt in my garden - and dug some up as I accidentally only ordered 1 on the delivery! It was £1.99 which may have been subconsciously why. I have decided I need to try and manage within my existing soil if possible - so I took out a struggling ornamental plant and some flowering bulbs  (:'( ) and moved half that soil into another newly repurposed pot that DH drilled holes in. I then put new soil in the top half of both and filled my strawberrry urn from years ago. I've planted the strawberry plants. I also planted 3 dutch iris and 3 ranunculus in the centre of the strawberry urn and raised the whole thing on an old ceramic pot to give it more ground clearance. I put it behind 2 other very large pots but not in shade - so that it would also be more away from the dog. The compost I got is supposed to be full of moisture. I also have fertiliser if needed in the shed and outdoors I have a big tub of chicken pellet manure....

DH has been busy - he has moved a plastic storage bench to another part of the garden - ironically the bench now has a direct view of the bins! Can't have everything. We can always move it again later. He did it to make room for a new metal shed which should come a week tomorrow. He also put some pruned mahonia (very sharp leaves) in the bin for me. We are off all week so hope to continue to make more progress - weather dependent. Tomorrow I want to plant the potatoes in seed pots of some kind and the same with some dwarf beans. It's been a good day overall. Planning to diet again tomorrow.

  • Your garden sounds wonderful, savingholmes. I have a decent amount of space in mine, but no time to do anything with it! How annoying!

It's lovely to have it during lockdown. I wonder how all the people in flats are managing?

I agree about the focus on weight possibly being the wrong thing.  It's like all the 'diet' and 'light' foods that have arisen which are either full of sugar or sweeteners instead of the fat.  It can't be healthy compared to a 'natural' option, particularly when there doesn't seem to be a big difference in calories in many cases.

@PositiveBalance those of us in flats go stir-crazy!

Glad there was no lasting damage to your toes.

Keep plugging away, carefully, in the garden and you will soon be eating the fruits of your labour!
