Do you have a redirection set up from your old address to your new one? I could sort of understand things addressed to your new house getting mixed up with the previous owners redirection but mail being redirected to you would either be in a redirection bag if there is a lot or each letter would have a sticker on it covering the old address and sending to the new one, it would be very strange for the postie to also make the mistake of redirecting a redirection.
Another possibility is if the previous owner had a mail retention set up for them to go to collect the mail themselves from the delivery office, if it!!!8217;s arranged for all mail to be held and nobody has informed them otherwise then yours could be kept there, although again I would expect that to come to light when you contacted them. It would be worth you making a trip to the delivery office to speak to them face to face where they can ask physically check the fitting for your address while you wait.0 -
As said, get down to your local delivery office.
There can be many explanations but you need to get this sorted ASAP.0 -
Thanks for your advice ladies and gents. We still have sporadic access to our old rented property and there are just a few bits of unsolicited junk mail going there. We've moved four times since 2011 (one of the joys of renting I will not miss!) so we're experts at the old changing address thing, hence why we didn't bother setting up a redirection for ourselves. We notified all of the relevant agencies etc of the new address had a month and a bit overlap between the old and the new properties. Old landlord was a good sort and gets his mom who lives in the same street to check for mail once a week and gives us a ring for us to collect - but as I said, just a few bits of junk mail.
I'm off work on Tuesday so I'm going to go down to the sorting office in person and get this mess cleaned up somehow. I'm worried about identity theft with all of these types of documents floating around. We managed to get in touch with the previous owner of our house. He set up redirection for his family name and has said he hasn't been receiving any mail for us, so we can only trust him on that one. Will check back next week and give an update.'0 -
You could try sending a first class 'Signed For' (recorded delivery) letter to yourself.
If you track it online, it might give a clue to what's happening. If it's being redirected, it's likely to stay in the system for an extra day or two.
It would also be interesting to see if somebody signs for it (if it's not you).0 -

OP says that it's the new address not receiving mail sent there - nothing to do with redirection.0 -
Had this issue from December onwards myself though lived here over a year, in 4 weeks had all of 1 delivery, a special delivery item went missing (a postal order from a relative) Complained and even then got like 2 deliveries a week and some things haven't arrived like a cashback cheque has gone missing.
No idea why myself.0 -
I also had post go missing in December, probably 4 Xmas cards at least. Next door neighbour received post for someone in the next street. I wonder if RM employed temp postmen/women who were not really up to the job.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Common misconception. The 'temp' staff employed at Christmas are working in Mail centres, not delivery.0 -

If you read what Autumnella has suggested you can see how it could be a (incorrectly set up) redirection at fault in theory, although the later post by the OP seems to have scuppered it in practice.0
