OP YOU have to set up redirection with Royal Mail !!!0
-
I think Boris has it right that this is mail being sent directly to the OP's current address that is not being delivered. A redirect set up by the previous owner shouldn't be the cause unless they have the same surname, although I'm not sure whether Keepsafe might act on all mail to the address rather than to specific names.
Unless of course you live in Dundee and have been expecting a lot of birthday cards!

No keepsafes and redirections work in the same manner.0 -

This was bought to light by us not receiving our updated driving licences and also DH's employer sending an expensive bit of work kit (untracked!) and us never receiving it.
Royal Mail can't offer an explanation and we can't get in touch with the previous owner of our house to see what redirection arrangements may be in place. They apparently can't tell us what possible redirection arrangements the previous house owner has in place ('data protection').
RM have simply told us to sit tight and get back in touch with them next Friday if we still haven't received anything. In the meantime, we are now discovering lots of other important things haven't turned up in the mail, namely my child's annual savings statement, our driving licences (as mentioned) and my updated car logbook. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before and are there any explanations from someone reading who may work at RM?
OP - as several other posters have asked:
1. What RM re-direction do YOU have in place (you haven't said), and
2. Why are you concerned about your previous owners arrangements, unless you have the same surname (again you haven't said)?
Are you suggesting YOUR mail is being re-directed to the previous owners of your address?0 -
When you say that Royal Mail can't explain the issue, who did you ask?
You need to speak to your local delivery office rather than customer services.0 -
The previous owners of our house have a completely different name than us. We haven't received any mail for them either which makes me think there may be a glitch somewhere. We're still trying to get in touch with them to find out.Manxman_in_exile wrote: »OP - as several other posters have asked:

We didn't organise any. We went from rented to buying and had a one month overlap. This gave us time to check if mail was still going to our old rented address. The old property is still vacant at the moment and the landlord lets us periodically check for mail. None is coming through as we notified pretty much everyone we could think of that we were moving to our current address.

Just in case there's some kind of glitch in that everything has been redirected rather than just by their surname (which isn't the same btw).

See above.
DH spoke to Royal Mail centrally and they also put him through to our local sorting office. No one could offer any advice really.
Sorry for errors. I'm posting from my mobile.0 -

Yes, this is the case.0 -
it is up to you to sort redirection with RM not the new owner/tenant.If that has not been done either the new owner/tenant has disposed or returned any mail or is holding it waiting for you to collect it.firefox1956 wrote: »OP YOU have to set up redirection with Royal Mail !!!Manxman_in_exile wrote: »OP - as several other posters have asked:

It's very obvious the OP is referring to not having received any post at their new address. Hence references to updated driving licenses and car logbooks.0 -
Could it be possible when setting up redirection the old address has been put as the new address and the new address put as the old address, and that the person at Royal Mail who you've spoke to has missed this?
Maybe knock at your old property and ask if they've received any mail for you with a different address on or redirection sticker.Make £10 per day-

That's a good thought, and hopefully can be confirmed quite easily by doing what you suggest.0
